📣SSG25: Call for speakers now open! 📣 UCISA Institutional Members can now submit a proposal for an opportunity to present at UCISA Support Services Group Conference (SSG25) via this online form <https://buff.ly/3C6rIqV>. Submission deadline is Friday 4th April 2025. The theme for UCISA SSG25 Conference, Getting Better All the Time, celebrates both the incremental and transformative steps that lead to excellence. From overcoming the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic to adapting to remote work and navigating sector shrinkage, our sector has shown remarkable resilience. Now, it’s time to move beyond survival and strive for the highest standards in our work. We are excited to hear from speakers to share their stories in the following areas: • Best Practices: Tell us about your methods and strategies that have helped you to achieve or maintain excellence. • Service Management: How have you coordinated and optimised your service delivery to ensure consistent, high-quality experiences for all. • Staff Development: We want to hear from leaders who have led new staff development initiatives and team members who been a part of them. • End-user Computing Lifecycle Management: We'd love to hear from people who have been working on this hot-button issue, are you excelling at this yourself or have you moved to a white-glove service? • Looking after ourselves: Prioritising self-care and well-being has never been more challenging yet never more important, how do you manage it? • Diversity and Inclusion: The community needs to hear from you if you have successfully fostered an inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives and backgrounds. • Educational Technology: Have you introduced new and groundbreaking technologies to enhance teaching and learning this year? If so, get in touch! • Service Culture: Embedding a resilient, adaptable culture that prioritises customer service; while maintaining a positive environment for our teams is a challenge we all face, do you have a story about this to share? • Delivering services in challenging times: We want real-life examples of how you are navigating disruptions like legacy technologies, financial pressures, staffing shortages, and beyond. #SSG25 #ITSupport #HigherEducation #UCISA #connect #share #transform

Join us on Thursday 23rd January for the UCISA Security Group webinar ‘MDR (R)evolution: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly’. Jan Berver, Group Security Architect at ITGL will guide us through the evolution of Managed Detection and Response (MDR) into a comprehensive suite of easily accessible services that are increasingly replacing traditional managed SOC offerings in the education sector. The emergence of XDR technology platforms has further enhanced this approach, providing a proven, cost-effective MDR-XDR blend that stands as one of the most powerful tools in fighting digital crime. However, it's important to note that not all MDR services and XDR solutions are created equal, and there are limited standards for evaluating them. During this session, we'll explore the latest developments and capabilities of the MDR-XDR combination, specifically designed to tackle emerging risks, diverse technological environments, and the unique processes of various institutions. Additionally, we'll delve into common requirements gathered from extensive market experience and evaluate how effectively the MDR-XDR combination addresses these needs, highlighting areas where it may excel or occasionally fall short. Thank you to ITGL for sponsoring this event. #ucisa #security #connect #share #transform This webinar is free to attend for UCISA Institutional Members. We've started the day hearing from Gary Burnett, Professor of Digital Creativity at Loughborough University. He is sharing the university’s concept of an XR ‘driving test’ where students have to demonstrate a level of competency with the technology before they are permitted to use XR in an actual learning session. Presenting at Birkbeck, we are also live streaming the session to attendees at University of Leeds. https://buff.ly/3ZPgG2t #immersivetechnologies #HE #FE #connect #share #transform #networking #UCISA #Digitaleducationgoup
