Today is World Children's Day (20 November). To mark this important day, we're sharing an incredible story from India about the difference eye care in childhood makes. Manoyara’s journey began with a life-changing eye care intervention she received as a child. Now, as an adult, she’s giving back to her community, and helping other children and families to receive the lasting impact of sight-saving treatment. Orbis UK's CEO Rebecca Cronin shared "Manoyara's remarkable journey from a young girl at risk of sight loss, to a community health worker helping to protect sight in her community demonstrates the long-term impact that access to eye care has. We know that vision impairment in children significantly harms educational outcomes, child mental health and future livelihood opportunities. Yet there are over 450 million children living with a sight condition that needs treatment now. Today on World Children's Day, we are calling for all children to have the access to eye care they need to thrive.” #WorldChildrensDay #WorldChildrensDay2024 #AccessToEyeCare
