  • 🌟 We are incredibly proud to share that one of our esteemed trustees, Sheikh Aliur Rahman OBE, has been recognised at the 2025 Sino-Phil Asia International Peace Awards in Manila! 🌍 Sheikh Aliur Rahman OBE, the Group Chairman of London Tea Exchange, was honoured for his outstanding leadership in launching the Global Fair Pay Charter, an initiative aimed at improving the living conditions and wages of tea plantation workers worldwide. In his powerful acceptance speech, he reminded us of the ongoing battle against poverty: "Millions of people, even today, when we have rovers on Mars, cannot afford two meals a day. That is unacceptable." 🚀🍽️ His unwavering dedication to driving change and speaking truth to power serves as an inspiration to all of us. Congratulations, Sheikh Aliur Rahman OBE , on this well-deserved recognition! 👏 Learn more about the Global Fair Pay Charter here: https://lnkd.in/eBbDVA4a What actions can we all take to support initiatives that drive global social change? • We had the pleasure of hosting the Masterclass Programme 2025 Induction last night! 🎉 The event began with introductions from the team, followed by inspiring words from our sponsors, including Paula Rocque (KPMG UK), Parth D. (Flint Global), Caroline Williams & Shiraz Jiwa (The Valesco Group). Hogan Lovells, although unable to attend, were still an essential part of our success. Our Chair of Trustees, Farmida Bi, welcomed this year’s cohort with an empowering speech. The cohort then heard from @NatashaIrons MP for Croydon East and lead on APPG on Youth Affairs, and valuable insights from our Alumni on making the most of Patchwork’s opportunities. We’re thrilled to see how each of the participants will grow over the next 10 months. A huge thank you to our sponsors KPMG UK, Hogan Lovells, The Valesco Group, and Flint Global, and to our Alumni and volunteers for making the event such a success. Special thanks to Norton Rose Fulbright for hosting us at your incredible offices! #PatchworkFoundation #Masterclass2025 #LeadershipDevelopment #CivicEngagement

  • In Memory of Rizwana Bokhari – The Inspiration Behind Patchwork Foundation It is with profound sadness that the Patchwork Foundation shares the news of the passing of Rizwana Bokhari, the beloved mother of our founders, Harris Bokhari OBE and Hina Bokhari, on 10th February 2025. Though she may no longer be with us, her influence and legacy will live on in the values and work of our foundation. Rizwana Bokhari was the strength behind her family’s achievements. As the wife of the first Muslim headteacher of a secondary school in the UK and the mother of two devoted public servants, her love and unwavering support shaped the work we do at Patchwork today. She was also the inspiration behind the name of the Patchwork Foundation. Rizwana used to knit patchwork blankets, and this act of bringing together different pieces to form something whole became a beautiful metaphor for society. At Patchwork, we believe in connecting diverse communities and backgrounds to create a stronger, more unified society—just like her blankets. To honour her legacy, our sister organisation Naz Legacy Foundation, have established the Rizwana Bokhari Endowment, a charity fund dedicated to supporting the education of orphans, a cause close to her heart. If you would like to contribute, we would be deeply grateful for your support. • Why Young Voices Matter in Shaping Our Future 🌍✨ Young people from underrepresented communities need to be engaged in politics and civil society – their voices are essential in shaping a fairer and more inclusive society. Without their input, key issues affecting them are often overlooked, and we miss out on the fresh ideas they bring. 💡 At the Patchwork Foundation, we’re on a mission to empower young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to get involved in civic life. We provide them with the tools, confidence, and opportunities to have their say in politics and make real change happen. 🎤 We’ve seen first-hand how impactful youth engagement can be. From our Masterclass Programme, young people have gone on to work within government, lead grassroots campaigns, and inspire others to get involved. Their actions prove that age isn’t a barrier to creating lasting change. 🚀 Getting involved doesn’t just mean standing for office. It could be volunteering, campaigning for causes, or advocating for policy changes. Every bit of civic engagement helps build understanding, networks, and leadership skills. 🌍 The future belongs to those who participate. By getting involved, young people from underrepresented communities can help shape the decisions that affect their lives and make a real difference. Now’s the time to step up and take your place at the table. 🗣️✊ Let’s build a society where every voice counts. #PatchworkFoundation #GetInvolved #CivicParticipation #YouthEngagement #FutureLeaders
