I help business people deliver confident and impactful presentations and winning sales pitches | Business Event Speaker and Compere | Podcast Host | Business Author | Cricketer | Runner
I had the privilege of compering the Unlocking Potential 'Small Steps to Giant Strides' event today and as part of that do a Q&A with guest speaker Hugo Tagholm. My former local newspaper colleague Rachel Foster ran a very successful panel Q&A to round off the morning. Thanks Andy Peters and UP for the opportunity and to Rachel Lewis for ensuring everything ran smoothly. I'm next in action on Thursday speaking at the Southampton Business Expo sharing how to deliver confident and impactful presentations. See you there!

20 years on from when we would stomp the halls of Harmsworth House (West Briton HQ), Trevor Lee is still nailing his public speaking thing, and I'm still talking about human interest, storytelling and data. This time for Unlocking Potential's event "Small Steps to Giant Strides" - how SMEs can play a part in creating positive change through small actions and effective communications. My number one take away from from keynote Hugo Tagholm was to be bold and keep showing up as our best selves as leaders in our organisations - for him, that's salt water and coast therapy. For me, that looks more like tree-bathing. Engaging workshop with Paul Atkinson asking all the right questions about how we can use innovation and disruption to do business differently and encourage a more equitable system. I had the privilege of hosting a panel with three business leaders - Deborah Mitchell, Jacqueline James and Will Besant about how they communicate the impact of their sustainability and community focused businesses. I'm excited to see their journeys continue to unfold. Big thank you to Jennie Wason and Andy Peters for asking me to be part of this event! Lovely to reconnect with a bunch of awesome humans, especially Josh Hoole, Russell Geake, Amanda Pennington FRSA and of course Kirsty Miles-Musgrave. #sustainability #blueeconomy #rippleeffect

It was a great pleasure to deliver a workshop for Unlocking Potential yesterday - and wow did we cover a lot! Over three hours we covered pretty much all things web and it’s always great to see how a group of engaged #Cornwall businesses reacts to the variety of content. My reflection on the day is around the importance of always checking basics and auditing what you have before working out what you want and then you can think about how to get there. Do the easy stuff first and ensure you’re getting the return on your investment of both time and money. The workshop was part of a scheme organised by Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Growth Hub and kindly funded by the Good Growth Fund. Big thanks to Karen Shaffer Jenny Waters and Olivia Keech Harris.

Changing the world by changing your business sounds like big talk, but it’s also one way in which real change happens; join us from 9:30am until 1pm on November 26th at The Barn @ Pengelly to find out how. When businesses change how they do business – and tell the world effectively – they kick off a virtuous cycle. Newly-started SMEs, or any turning over up to £1m, will probably be keen to reduce emissions and impact. Our keynote, Hugo Tagholm (head of global marine conservation NGO Oceana, ex-CEO and co-founder of Surfers Against Sewage, made Doctor of Science by the University of Exeter for services to the marine environment) will use all his experience to talk about being credibly sustainable and communicating effectively. We’ll also hear from Greenworks Sustainability Consultants’ Paul Atkinson, and other Cornish SMEs already innovating their way to net zero and telling the world about it. Future change arrives via decisions we make now; ambitious and nimble SMEs like yours will be leading the way, and this event will help give you the confidence you need. Why not book your place? https://lnkd.in/eCa-fbsJ #ciosgoodgrowth #ukspf Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Growth Hub

Being asked the MC the Unlocking Potential Women in Business Tideturners event last week was a small step outside of my comfort zone, but one I did with zero regrets! ⭐ 60 female entrepreneurs ⭐ 4 incredible speakers ⭐ One big-ass room I always say magic happens when women come together, and this event was no exception. Thanks to Bella Collins, Laura Whyte, Emma Caddis and Jo Murray for sharing their stories with humour and honesty; totally embracing the #HumanFirst vibe we hoped for. Rachel Lewis you totally smashed it (obviously!) Until next time...
