Despite the snowy weather, last night’s People Planet Pint in Lincoln sparked some interesting conversations. We explored topics like unconscious bias, ways to reduce our digital carbon footprint, why Gen Z values purpose-driven workplaces, and how the real challenge with AI isn’t job loss - it’s the energy it consumes. It was fantastic to connect with representatives from Lincolnshire Co-op, the University of Lincoln, and the Gusto Group and hear about the incredible work they’re doing to prioritise people and the planet. We can’t wait to return in the new year with even more events lined up - not just in Lincoln, but beyond 👀

Some really interesting research showcase presentations yesterday from colleagues from the University of Lincoln as part of our #CAF2024 session on climate action and ecological justice in diverse contexts, sponsored by the Lincoln Centre for Ecological Justice. Matthew Hannaford kicked it off discussing his FLF project on climate coloniality, followed by Andy Brookes discussing the need for society to reframe the sustainability narrative, Pietro Di Paola discussing community mobilisations on the use of PFAS in Northern Italy, Alessia Vacca exploring the links between climate change, sustainable textiles and energy efficiency using a legal perspective, and Julian Clifton discussing an amazing project that ensures fairness and equity in carbon and biodiversity credit schemes. All testament to the breadth of diverse climate action research going on across the University of Lincoln, with the commonality of the need for ecological justice. The Nature Positive Lincoln exhibition as part of the Climate Action Festival is available to view daily 08:00 - 17:00 in the Project Space + in the Peter de Wint Building, Brayford Pool Campus, University of Lincoln. Featuring local and student creatives on the theme of colour, this exhibition is a celebration of viewing and capturing nature. We've got some great events lined up for this year's Climate Action Festival, including a research and scholarship showcase on Climate Action & Ecological Justice in Diverse Contexts, coordinated by Dr. Andrew Kythreotis. This research showcase session, sponsored by the Lincoln Centre for Ecological Justice, will present five easy-to-digest 15-minute presentations from academics and researchers from across the University of Lincoln doing research and scholarship broadly related to climate action and ecological justice in diverse contexts. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. 📢Climate Action Festival 2024 It is almost time for the fourth Lincoln Climate Action Festival which returns from 18 - 23 November. Community Climate Action Festival returns to Lincoln for its fourth year From 18 – 23 November, join us for the fourth year of our Climate Action Festival, a week dedicated to raising awareness on how you can take positive climate action in your community and further afield.
