Following the #FAA Vertiport Industry Day last week and the subsequent discussions on downwash, we thought it might be worth reminding everybody of our leadership in this space... Going beyond CAP2576, Urban-Air Port took it upon themselves - the only vertiport company to do so - to test and prove how their patented Vertical Airfield and its built-in technology mitigates the destructive effects of eVTOL outwash and downwash and provides a safe environment for passengers, staff and aircraft on the most compact footprint while enabling maximum throughput. Six Miles Across London, our parent company and majority shareholder, established Urban-Air Port after an initial foray into Urban Air Mobility with Airbus (more on that next time), this quickly led Volocopter's Founder, Alex Zosel to us... that was 2018... He was the first eVTOL OEM Founder to say publicly "If you want to be taken seriously in the 'flying car business', you need an infrastructure plan. It's not enough to just have futuristic looking aircraft that can take off and land vertically. You also need a citywide system of landing pads, charging stations, and passenger loading & unloading areas." Richard’s opening statement starts the discussion: “What’s interesting at the #EVShow here today is that the exhibition is focused on infrastructure not the EVs themselves, and that’s what the eVTOL industry needs to really pivot towards - quickly”. It was a great pleasure to support the #eVTOLinsights Europe Conference last week in London. Our CEO Andrea Wu was accompanied on stage by our Founder Ricky Sandhu, with friends at UrbanV joining remotely from Italy. A lively discussion on making real, grown up progress for the #evtol and #aam industry by facing up to the #vertiport challenges with scaleable and economically viable solutions.
