The New Name in Ethernet Transformer Design

About us

UWBX Limited is a UK company specialising in the design of Ethernet Transformers, for the Global Market. We hold unique patented technology, which allows us to design and produce Ethernet Transformers with unrivalled technical performance. In short, we can produce Transformers which are faster than any other on the market, to supply an Industry where increased speed is probably the most important demanded criteria. In January 2020 we signed a long-term Production and Distribution partnership agreement with HALO Electronics Inc. HALO intends to develop 25/40G (IEEE802.3bq) magnetics as well as galvanic isolated Multi Gig BASE-T1 (up to 10G over a single pair) transformer solutions for next generation high speed Ethernet applications. “The technology that UWBX has developed will change the way we think about standard Ethernet transformers and will push the bandwidth ceiling to a level not achievable from traditional transformer technology,” says Jeff Heaton, HALO’s V.P of Technical Marketing. In May 2021, HALO announced the world's first commercially available IEEE802.3bq compliant high-speed transformers. Utilizing the UWBX technology, HALO® has been able to achieve the high-speed performance needed to meet the OCL, Cross Talk, Insertion Loss, Return Loss and CDMR performance required for a fully compliant 25G or 40G Ethernet port over copper cables. This UL recognized product is available for evaluation under non-disclosure agreement (NDA) effective immediately. In January 2022, HALO announced the worlds first IEEE802.3ch compliant 2.5GBASE-T1 transformers, providing galvanic isolation for those applications requiring a higher level of isolation. Utilizing the UWBX technology HALO® has been able to achieve the high-speed performance needed to meet Insertion Loss and Return Loss required for a fully compliant 2.5GBASE-T1 Ethernet port over single pair copper cables. IEEE Computer Society webinar about IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) July 30, 2024 IEEE Std 802.11be is the latest step in a journey of continuous innovation in the wireless local area networks (WLAN) standards and is the underlying technology of the latest Wi-Fi 7 products. The goal of the project is to enable wireless communications with extremely high throughput (EHT) and reduced worst case latency, while ensuring backward compatibility with legacy devices operating in the 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz bands. In this webinar, Dr. Alfred Asterjadhi, Chair of IEEE 802.11be and IEEE 802.11bn, will present an overview of the features and optimizations introduced by IEEE 802.11be to the Physical layer (PHY) and Medium Access Control layer (MAC), which lead to these improvements. Complimentary registration is available at: https://lnkd.in/eR6Z2TiN

Signal transmitters are essential for modern communication and entertainment. They have a different function than conventional transformers, but they are equally important. Conventional transformers are mainly used for isolation and power transmission. They can change the voltage level to a higher or lower value, depending on the application. Signal transformers, however, are used for isolation and impedance matching. They usually have a 1:1 gear ratio and there is no voltage/current transformation. Signal Transformers in Everyday Life Signal transformers enable us to enjoy various forms of media and communication. They are involved in many activities that we do daily, such as watching TV, making phone calls, or listening to music in the car. Signal transformers are used in many different applications and devices. These include, Robots, Routers, Single Pair Ethernet (SPE), Consumer electronics, Sensors/Diagnostics, Collection of engine data, Navigation, and Comfort control in vehicles. Smaller Devices Require Smaller Components The demand for convenient and accessible technology is constantly increasing. This means that designers and engineers have to make devices smaller and more portable. This poses a challenge for the PCB design, as there is less space available for the components. Therefore, electronic components have to be smaller and more efficient, without compromising their performance. This requires innovative solutions and products. UWBX Ltd has developed a new series of discrete 1500 V RMS A/C isolating transformers that meet these requirements. The UWBX series of signal transformers are designed for applications where small size and excellent electronic parameters are essential. Why Choose UWBX Ltd Transformers? The UWBX Ltd transformer samples will be made with a semi-automated process with the intention of a fully automated process to follow. Unlike conventional transformers that consist of toroidal ferrites in a plastic housing, the UWBX Ltd transformers have very small dimensions (2.4 × 2.6 × 2.7 mm) and can withstand an isolation voltage of 1,500 V for 1 minute. If you want to learn more about these transformers and request your samples, contact us today. #spe #ethernet
