Vertical farming, an innovative method where crops are grown in stacked layers, often in controlled environments, is revolutionising agriculture. The V-FAST Feasibility Project is exploring the potential of using renewable energy to power these farms, ensuring a reliable and sustainable food production system. By integrating renewable energy sources (such as High-Density Hydro® from our partners RheEnergise in our current project), vertical farms can consistently produce the required amount of energy, making them a viable solution for our growing food and energy needs. This project underscores the synergy between advanced agriculture and green energy, paving the way for a sustainable future.

Vertical farming involves cultivating plants in vertically stacked layers, often within controlled environments, a practice known as Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA). CEA allows for precise control over factors like temperature, humidity, and light, significantly boosting crop yields and resource efficiency.
