Well that was fun! I was delighted to return to University of Dundee yesterday as a guest lecturer, talking to the Biomedical Engineering students on investment, routes to market and sales strategies for Biomedical products/services. It was great hearing from them about their ideas for products/services, and there really are some caring, insightful and innovative ideas out there! Last year, I had 1 student put their name forward for a potential summer placement at one of my former employers, who went on to spend a productive summer working on optical engineering projects. Thanks Derek Swan for helping make that happen. This time, i had 10+ students put their names forward, having heard about some of the many Scottish Biomedical success stories (think Optos, Vascular Flow Technologies Ltd, epipole, Exscientia, School of Life Sciences, University of Dundee,). I look forward to doing what i can to help them connect with industry contacts, and giving them the same opportunity i was given in 2002. Thanks to Brian McNicoll, Christopher DJ Smyth and Bob Andrew at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Dundee for the invitation. Same time next year???
