Leveraging Technology and Human Expertise to Deliver Transparency in Your Supply Chain
About us
Verisio’s mission is the eradication of modern slavery in global supply chains. Founded in 2013, but with senior management who have been in this industry for nearly thirty years, Verisio truly came into its own with the publication of the UK Modern Slavery Act in 2015. This ground-breaking law requires that all companies understand what is happening in their supply chains. We provide supply chain transparency and compliance to the Modern Slavery Act as a service in different forms to our clients. We do this using our proprietary software ‘Optimus’ and our teams of expert social compliance auditors in the United Kingdom, across Europe and Asia.

We're very proud to be included in The Business Services Association's new Frontline Workers Modern Slavery Pack. Our CEO, Leon Reed, worked with the BSA's Modern Slavery Council to contribute our expertise to this comprehensive training pack for frontline workers. Spotting the signs of modern slavery is key, and this pack provides a one-stop shop for businesses to educate their workers on modern slavery, its signs and prevention. On today's International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, a BBC News investigation reveals that some UK high-street 'Italian' tomato products are more than likely made with tomatoes farmed in a Chinese forced labour region. Origin testing on the tomato products found that they were more than likely Chinese tomatoes, not Italian. The vast majority of Chinese tomatoes come from Xinjiang, a region where forced labour and torture are commonplace. Due diligence on supply chains and products must be strengthened, particularly in the UK, where corporate responsibility laws are weak and not enforced. EU and US forced labour legislations are only growing stronger, and the UK needs to catch up to avoid becoming a 'dumping ground' for forced labour products, as Anti-Slavery International states in the article. "Businesses have an obligation to find, fix and prevent [modern slavery in their supply chains], and we should not judge them for exposing modern slavery, but on what they do to address it when they uncover it." The latest CCLA Investment Management Modern Slavery Benchmark found that whilst more companies are disclosing that they've found modern slavery in their supply chains, many are underperforming in their remediation efforts. With the news this week that the EU will ban any products made with forced labour, global demand for supply chain transparency and due diligence is growing louder. Businesses must have robust processes in place to identify, investigate and remediate modern slavery and human rights risks in their supply chains. At Verisio, we specialise in helping businesses meet these challenges head-on. From risk assessing your supply chain to tailored on-site investigations, our consultancy services provide the tools and support needed to uphold ethical supply chains. "Despite the data being clear that British nationals are most at risk of being exploited, the former government continued with its framing of modern slavery as an immigration, not a safeguarding, issue." openDemocracy's recent research into UK modern slavery found that, more often than not, victims are treated as criminals rather than receiving the protection and support they need. A shift in government policy framed modern slavery as an immigration issue, worsening challenges for foreign and domestic victims alike. Many are denied support, face deportation, or are even imprisoned. Unproven claims of system misuse drove this approach, leaving British victims "off the radar" and under-supported.
