After months off painstaking reviewing and editing, we are delighted to announce that Vetpol's #Equine #SQP module has now been updated to reflect all the latest recommendations from the CANTER group. Understanding and following the CANTER guidelines is essential if we are to control anthelmintic resistance, which poses a serious threat to our horses in the UK. SQPs are uniquely positioned to advise owners on the importance of testing and treating selectively (and testing again), as the majority of equine wormers are supplied by SQPs, mainly through retail outlets. Sometimes I spend too much time in the office. Recently we've had a key team member on long-term sick which has meant more hours stuck in front of a computer than I care to remember, but hey ho, that's life! Having said that, it does surprises me how well we can forge genuine relationships online, despite having never met the other person at the end of the email - and that includes developing professional trust with many of our customers. But yesterday was a bit different when I went out for site visit and met my main (online) contact at StowAg, Jennifer Graham, to find out what we are getting right for the SQPs in training with us and what we might do better. I cannot tell you how uplifting that experience was and what a fantastic business StowAg is! The culture was palpable even before entering the main warehouse, with neat displays of stock outside, busy staff resplendent in branded clothing and a professional looking "SQP area", where VPS medicines were displayed behind a desk as you walked through the main door. The guided tour I was given left me feeling even more impressed and mulling on the opportunities for business growth in an area where many people have animals and are not short of cash! So the message for me was I need to get out more! Online communications are necessary and expedient but you cannot beat a face-to-face for gaining a better understanding of your customer's needs - and it's good for the soul.
