🎉 Day 10: Pioneering Research and Innovation – ASHRAE UK Chapter Award Winner! 🎄 This year we were thrilled to celebrate winning the ASHRAE UK Chapter Award for Advanced Visualization Techniques, recognising our groundbreaking contributions to HVAC research and water quality innovation. 🌟 Back in 2018, Darren proposed a hypothesis that was submitted to Loughborough University and BISPA (Building & Industrial Services Pipework Academy). This visionary idea grew into an ASHRAE and industry-sponsored MSc and PhD scientific study, showcasing the power of collaboration between industry and academia. The research, presented at the 2023 ASHRAE Annual Conference, revealed vital findings: 🔍 Corroded Water Impact: In lab conditions, untreated corroded water can increase pump energy use by up to 80%, leading to reduced efficiency and higher operational costs. 🌡️ Infrared Thermography: A simple yet very effective technique to detect system failures and potential clogging early, enabling system optimisation and reducing downtime. This cutting-edge work highlights the importance of maintaining water quality in heating systems to enhance energy efficiency, system longevity, and prevent costly repairs.
