On Thursday night the Village Software team swapped their keyboards for cowboy hats and headed to the Moonshine Saloon in Liverpool for a wild west Christmas celebration!🎄🤠 An immersive Western cocktail experience, complete with storytelling that brought the outlaw spirit to life, paired with moonshine-inspired cocktails and mocktails, made for a night filled with laughter and fun. Wrapping Up 2024 with Fun and Trivia! 🧠🏆 Yesterday, we came together for our Annual End-of-Year Quiz! It was a fantastic afternoon of laughter, teamwork, and some surprisingly tough questions about General Knowledge, Geography, Music, Sports, 2024 Trivia and of course a round dictated to what we do day in and day out so BI, SQL and also Management. I worry about productivity in the UK, not one of the characteristics my wife loves me for. I ponder what those of us in Information Systems can do about it. As I rant to my students (at Liverpool Business School one day a week) wealth is a matter of GDP per head. On my Village Software desk is my work mug, given to my by a colleague, reminding us we are often in the productivity business. We can only keep our national standard of living and improve it if we use what we have more efficiently and effectively, which is to say more productively. But I read UK labour productivity is dropping, (https://lnkd.in/dwBKCbe2) Those of work in information systems and business services generally are able to do something about this, but are clearly not succeeding. We work often in manufacturing, they are all over productivity of course, but in services perhaps less so or so the evidence suggests. I shall be thinking as I eat my mince pies, what we at Village can do to package our capabilities in a way that helps make a productivity difference to clients.
