🎙️ So proud to share some recent voiceover work for Bumble Inc.—and this one’s extra special! Not only did I get to record for such a major brand, but I also had the privilege of playing the role of a queer woman. Hello, inclusivity! 🌈 To all my queer friends, I hope I did you proud—it was an honour to step into your world, even if just for a moment. 🫶🏼 Performance-wise, this was a dream come true. I had the pleasure of a live-directed session with my "Bumble girlfriend," the amazing Lucy Dwyer—what a voice, what an artist! We recorded 14 takes, each with a different tone—from “cozy bed vibes” to “playful and bouncy.” Sounds like the creative team went with the former (which I hoped for!). There are a myriad ways to create these sounds, but here’s a peek into how I nailed the ‘cozy bed vibes.’ I turned the gain down on my mic to avoid peaking, then got in nice and close to the mic—just like I was speaking to someone lying next to me. It might seem small, but adjusting your proximity to the mic can massively change the way you speak, giving it a more intimate, personal feel. And that’s exactly the tone we were going for with ‘cozy bed vibes.’ Now, on the tech side… yikes. 😅 I never have tech issues but oh my gosh did I have some issues (Google Meet was NOT cooperating), so we had to switch to Zoom, which made us 10 minutes late. 🙃 My mic also dropped connection a couple of times (thankfully not during the actual takes! And this issue was easily resolved). But despite this I powered through and now have an amazing new campaign which I'm really proud of. I’m sharing this because stuff happens, no matter how much you prepare. The key is to stay grounded, embrace the challenges, and be ready to create. Proud I did just that, despite the hiccups. Share behind-the-scenes content, voice samples, and client testimonials to attract potential clients. This complements specialising in a niche or industry. 🤝 Offer Comprehensive Services: Go beyond providing voiceovers. To ADD MORE VALUE for your clients, offer services like scriptwriting or consulting. 💼 Adjust Your Fee Structure: Consider flexible pricing models that reflect the added value you bring. Package deals, retainer agreements, or tiered pricing can make your services more attractive while ensuring you're compensated fairly. Note all those rate cards you refer to online are WOEFULLY OUTDATED. 🤩 Emphasise Authenticity and Quality: While influencers rely on personal charisma, your strength lies in delivering HIGH-QUALITY, professional audio.
