empowering veterans to regain control of their lives

About us

Our Mission: At VTRN RESET, we empower service leavers and veterans suffering from poor mental health, transition-related issues, and lack of vision to reclaim their lives. We achieve this through our extensive Joint Service Partnership Model, which at its core, is an intensive 10-day retreat designed by global experts. This retreat lies at the heart of a comprehensive, end-to-end support system, guiding each veteran’s journey well beyond the programme. With a personalised vision and an ongoing development plan, we empower veterans to move forward with resilience and purpose, realising their full potential. Our vision: To create a future where every veteran and service leaver thrives, strengthened by resilience, guided by purpose, and empowered with the resources to lead fulfilling lives.

A 6am start, with the team of VTRN RESET, delivering a brief on our organisation, what sets us apart and our why… It was a real pleasure to stand in front of 40+ CEOs and business owners, regaling on stories from our time in service, and how this team came together through a sense of shared experience, a strong vision and unified purpose. A special thanks to Best of British Events for the inviting us to be the subject of the mornings breakfast briefing, and to the The Grand Hotel Brighton for the space, and exceptional breakfast. We very much look forward to the fund raising gala dinner later in 2025. • 🚒🔥 420 miles. 14 days. One incredible challenge. James and Robyn, two firefighters, are running to every fire station in North Yorkshire—averaging 30 miles a day—to raise funds for VTRN RESET and The Fire Fighters Charity. For James, this is personal. As a veteran of the Princess of Wales’ Royal Regiment (Tigers), he’s seen too many friends struggle after service—two lost to suicide in the past 18 months. VTRN RESET is here to change that, providing veterans with the tools and support they need to rebuild purpose beyond the military. Their challenge is tough, but your support can make it count. • 🌟 Exciting Update from VTRN RESET! 🌟 We are thrilled to announce that the development of our Retreat Programme is now complete! This significant milestone brings us one step closer to fulfilling our mission. Our next objective is to secure the funding required to deliver our pilots in Spain. This is a critical moment in our journey, as the involvement of our university partners will play a pivotal role in proving our concept. Their participation, and the subsequent reports will enable us to apply for larger capital grant funds, which will help us expand our reach and support even more veterans in need as we will then move into being fully operational as an organisation. At VTRN RESET, we envision a future where every veteran thrives—strengthened by resilience, guided by purpose, and equipped with the resources to lead fulfilling lives. Our intensive 10-day retreat, designed by global experts, lies at the heart of a comprehensive support system that empowers veterans to reclaim their lives and realise their full potential. Watch this space for further updates in 2025, and from all of us at VTRN RESET, Merry Christmas! 🎅 #VTRNRESET #VeteranSupport #MentalHealth #Funding #Empowerment #Resilience #Community #Purpose

🌟 UK Veterans Thriving, Not Just Surviving 🌟 Today, we want to shine a light on the incredible resilience and success stories of our UK veterans. These brave individuals have not only served our country with honor but are now excelling in various fields, proving that they can thrive in society rather than just survive. 🔹 From the Battlefield to the Boardroom: Veterans are leveraging their skills and discipline gained in the military to excel in corporate roles, entrepreneurship, and community leadership. For example, companies like, X-Forces Enterprise, and the CTP (Career Transition Partnership) are helping veterans transition into successful business owners and industry leaders. Here are a few inspiring examples: - Mike Penning: Former Armed Forces Minister and a prominent advocate for veterans' employment and welfare. - James Murphy: CEO of Opus Talent Solutions, and a former British Army officer. - Debra Searle MVO MBE: Adventurer, author, and motivational speaker who has inspired many with her achievements after serving in the Royal Naval Reserve. - Ben McBean: Double amputee Royal Marine Commando who has become a motivational speaker and entrepreneur. 🔹 Community Champions: Many veterans are thriving by giving back to their communities. Initiatives like the Veterans’ Foundation, are supporting veterans in making a positive impact, from volunteering in local projects to mentoring at-risk youth. 🔹 Personal Development and Empowerment: Programs such as VTRN RESET, provide veterans with tools to enhance their personal growth, helping on their journey to finding purpose and to self-actualisation. 💡 Understanding the Struggle: It's important to recognise that many people in society, veterans included, often find themselves stuck at the survival level of life. As per Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, individuals must first satisfy their basic needs (food, shelter, safety) before they can focus on higher-level needs such as esteem and self-actualisation. 📊 By the Numbers: - According to the UK Ministry of Defence, there are approximately 2.4 million Armed Forces veterans in the UK, many of whom face unique challenges during their transition to civilian life. - Research by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), indicates that veterans are more likely to experience mental health issues, with 1 in 5 veterans reporting symptoms of depression or anxiety. - A report from the Royal British Legion found that over 6% of working-age veterans are unemployed, highlighting the need for continued support in employment and skills training. Veterans' success stories remind us that with the right support and opportunities, individuals can transcend their immediate survival needs and achieve their fullest potential. Let's celebrate our veterans and continue to support their journey towards success by driving programmes like VTRN RESET to the forefront! 🇬🇧💪 #Veterans #ThrivingNotSurviving #MaslowsHierarchy #SuccessStories #VeteranEmployment

Transitioning from military service to civilian life can be a challenging endeavour. Veteran’s can often struggle to find a sense of purpose and direction in the post-service world. Drawing from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, it's clear that achieving self-actualisation requires a solid foundation. Before we can reach the pinnacle of self-actualisation, we must first ensure that our basic needs are met. This includes establishing a comprehensive routine that incorporates wellness, proper nutrition, regular exercise, a consistent sleep pattern, positive mental health practices, social connections, ongoing learning and development, and having a happy home. These elements form the building blocks of our psychological and physiological well-being, enabling us to pursue higher aspirations. At VTRN RESET, we understand the importance of these foundational steps. Our Co-founder, Adam Stirling, is a testament to this journey. After his service, Adam faced the same uncertainties many of us do, and has PTSD. However, through discipline and dedication, he has established a daily routine that prioritises his health and well-being, which enabled him to take back control of his life. Adam's day begins with morning exercise and an ice bath which not only keeps him physically fit but also boosts his mental clarity. This is followed by a balanced breakfast, ensuring he starts the day with the right nutrition. He dedicates time to mindfulness practices such as meditation and journaling, which help maintain his mental health. Adam also ensures he gets ample rest each night, recognising the importance of a good sleep pattern. Beyond these, Adam spends real time with his wife and children and incorporates social connections into his routine, regularly engaging with family, friends, and fellow veterans to foster a sense of community and belonging. He also prioritises ongoing learning and development, setting aside time for reading, skill-building, and professional growth. He also surrounds himself with people who inspire him. By focusing on these essential aspects, Adam created a stable base that allows him to explore his passions and career goals, whilst having a good balance. This commitment inspired the team Gelareh Darvish, Steve Wall MBE and Adam Stirling to create VTRN RESET, a programme designed to empower service leavers and veterans to thrive in society. Adam's routine not only enabled him to find purpose in his career but also helped him build a happy and content family. His yearly goals revolve around personal growth and development, and he consistently achieves them by adhering to the principles that VTRN RESET advocates. At VTRN RESET, we empower service leavers and veterans to take control of their journey toward self-actualisation. By helping them establish a strong foundation, they can unlock their potential and find lasting purpose after service! #VeteranSupport #MaslowHierarchy #SelfActualisation #Wellness #Routine
