    🧠 Unlock consumer psychology behind membership pricing 🏷️   Retail memberships aren’t just about points and discounts, they’re about tapping into how we think and feel. Our latest research with Vypr reveals the psychological triggers behind why loyalty schemes work, and how they shape consumer behaviour.   Here’s how membership pricing drives loyalty: ✅ Self-perception theory: Memberships create identity and connection. 59% of members say loyalty schemes make them feel more connected to a retailer (p.4). Why? Because exclusive rewards like early access and personalised offers reinforce their identity as a ‘valued shopper’ - fostering emotional loyalty beyond discounts. ✅ Cognitive ease: Convenience builds habit. 52% of members check prices at other stores less often (p.4) - convenience becomes their default. When deals are easy to access and savings are automatic, shoppers stick with the brand without second-guessing. ✅ Scarcity effect (FOMO): Non-members notice what they’re missing. Pages 8-10 reveal that many non-members feel excluded by membership-only pricing, driving sign-up consideration when they see exclusive offers.   But there’s more….   Our research highlights that loyalty schemes also influence spending behaviour: 📊 70% of members shop more frequently with retailers because of their membership - highlighting the power of consistent rewards to drive footfall and digital engagement. 💳 63% admit they make impulse purchases due to member-exclusive deals - proving that well-targeted offers can increase basket size.   📉 Meanwhile, non-members are feeling left out: ⚠️ 64% feel excluded by membership pricing - proving that effective pricing strategies can turn FOMO into loyalty.   >> The lesson? Emotional connections drive buying behaviour.     Business Conference Well what a fantastic first session on Data Insight we’ve had this morning. Matthew E. from Vypr opened the morning by taking us through the key insights from the most recent edition of the Consumer Horizons report which for Q1 was featured on frozen. Next up was Alex Lawrence from another of our data partners, Circana discussing the prospects for growth in 2025. Following on was the wonderful Megan Van Someren from The Jamie Oliver Group taking us through the innovation behind ‘Freezing Jamie Oliver’. The research and innovation behind the reasons for entering the frozen sector and why it’s a natural and full circle progression for the brand. Last up before the coffee break was Will Dias from Aldi UK discussing the frozen food opportunities within retail and the importance of quality and innovation in their strategy for the sector.
