In Mendy v Manchester City Football Club Limited, Man City was found to have unlawfully deducted Benjamin Mendy's wages for 18 of the 22 months that he was unable to play. He was unable to play due to a combination of a safeguarding suspension and periods of being either remanded in custody or subject to prohibitive bail conditions, following a number of allegations of rape and sexual assault.
