🎉 Celebrating 50 Years of Ward Williams 🎉 This year marks a momentous milestone for us – our 50th anniversary! To commemorate this incredible journey, teams from across our seven UK offices gathered for a very special celebration at the iconic Eden Project. The evening began with Senior Partner James Beckly delivering an inspiring opening speech. He took us on a journey back to 1974, when Ward Williams was founded with just two small offices in the South West of England. James highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit and culture of innovation that have shaped our success, enabling us to contribute to iconic projects like the Lord’s Media Centre and The Eden Project itself. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teams and founding partners, sharing memorable anecdotes from the past five decades. The celebration continued as Chairman Andy Snapes welcomed founding partners Paul Williams and Roland Tiplady to the stage. Together, they reflected on the challenges and triumphs that have defined our history. From overcoming recessions to achieving breakthrough moments, their stories offered a candid and heartfelt look at the determination and resilience behind Ward Williams' growth. Roland spoke with pride about the dedication required in the early days, including 15-hour workdays and around-the-clock shifts to meet client needs. Paul shared a standout moment from the 1990s, when he was invited by Buro Happold and Sir Norman Foster to collaborate on the iconic Al Faisaliah Tower, then the tallest building in the Middle East. The founders’ reflections truly embodied our core values of Authenticity, Imagination, and Impact, as they celebrated the relationships, challenges, and opportunities that have brought us to where we are today. A heartfelt thank you to Tanya, Emily, and our Eden Project hosts for creating an unforgettable evening. Here's to the next 50 years of growth, innovation, and making an impact! #50YearsOfWardWilliams #AnniversaryCelebration #AuthenticityImaginationImpact

Thank you Cirencester College for hosting the open evening of the Avebury Building yesterday evening, the event was also a celebration of all the projects we have worked on over the last few years. Located along the new main frontage of the campus, the Avebury Building provides a Wellbeing Hub facility and includes specialist support rooms, quiet rooms, social areas and specific pastoral support rooms for students. This is a fantastic facility for the students at staff at the College, and adds to Smith Consult's portfolio of work with the College. It was also lovely to see some of the other projects we have worked on shown in the photos below, including the Digital Building, T-Levels Building, Kitchen and Refectory, C Block and now the Avebury Building. Congratulations to all the team, it's been a real pleasure to have been involved in these projects. We attended the Commercial Retrofit event held at the Bristol beacon on Tuesday this week hosted by CIOB. There were some outstanding presentations and a really exciting and collaborative atmosphere in the room. We were particularly struck by Sir John Armitt's solution to the challenges faced when retrofitting the grade two listed Beacon building. It was also just good to play with some Lego! Thanks to the organisers for putting on such a quality event. The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Willmott Dixon Ward Williams

We are delighted to announce the Christmas Special of the Construction and Property Forum ‘People, Planet and a Pint’ event at Manning’s in Truro on Thursday 28th November from 5pm to 7pm. As it’s Christmas we will also be having a draw which all those attending can enter to win a bottle of bubbly from Old Chapel Cellars in Truro! Consider this: around 80% of the buildings that will exist in 2050 are already built. To meet our net-zero targets and increase climate resilience, we must urgently decarbonise the UK’s building stock. Retrofitting is the most effective strategy to tackle this immense challenge. We're getting ready to welcome guests of Ward Williams, Willmott Dixon and CIOB to our Commercial Retrofit event on November 12th at Bristol Beacon, for a day of inspirational speakers, imaginative play and real impact.
Our Commercial Retrofit: Playful Solutions, Serious Results Event is back on! If you're eager to learn about commercial retrofit, join us on the 12th November at the Bristol Beacon where we will be hearing from some fantastic speakers like Julie Hirigoyen, Prof. John Edwards, Josephine Bromley and David Cope, AND take part in a Lego Serious Play Workshop! It has been an absolute pleasure working alongside Paloma Hermoso FCIOB MAPM, Chris Hines, Natalie Breakspear and Andrew Geldard, and I promise this is not your typical conference - you won't want to miss this one!
