After a number of post-competition review sessions and meetings this summer, Warwick Boring has SUBMITTED its Preliminary Design Briefing and is one step closer to qualifying for the Not-a-Boring Competition 2025! Embark on a journey of innovation with Warwick Boring as we take on Elon Musk's Not-a-Boring Competition 2024 in Bastrop, Texas! This year, our goal has been to improve our current tunnel boring machine and secure the top spot at NaBC 2024. We kicked off the week with a comprehensive tour of The Boring Company's facilities, where we proudly presented our machine to their engineers, outlining our aspirations for the competition. Following rigorous safety checks and meticulous fine-tuning of our hydraulic, electronic, and propulsion systems, we were privileged to engage in a captivating Q&A session with none other than CEO Steve Davis and a host of brilliant Boring Company engineers. As the week progressed, our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year members were graciously invited to a recruitment dinner, where we gained invaluable insights into potential opportunities and the inner workings of TBC. After a long week of hard work our machine finally worked, ending off the competition with a high note. Days 5 and 6 were spent on soil and connection testing, as we were able to connect our TBM to a hydraulic pump. With the machine lifted on a frame to spin the cutterhead, our set up is almost done! We've got so many amazing pictures that we get to split them into two posts! In the evening, we had an insightful session with Steve Davis, the CEO of TBC, featuring a Q&A session and interaction with TBC engineers.
