When you make a wish & drop a coin into a fountain, what happens to it next? We are thrilled to have received a surprise donation of £1,400 from coins thrown into the Cathedral Fountain at Christ Church, Oxford. Offering coins at fountains or wells for good luck is a tradition present in many cultures around the world, with origins thought to date back thousands of years. So heart warming that pennies dropped into a fountain will help bring clean water to others! We are hugely grateful to everyone involved - from those who made a wish at this beautiful fountain, to the volunteers who counted all the coins! As a small charity, this donation will truly have an impact. 💙 💧 💙 #grateful #rainwaterharvesting #water #WaterSanitationandHygiene

Making Every Drop Count through water harvesting in last mile communities in India, Ghana & Uganda💧
About us
Our water harvesting brings sustainable change to last mile communities. Our work improves health, reduces poverty and frees women & girls from water procurement to attend school and gain income security. We work with local partners to implement a range of water-harvesting measures providing urgently needed water for drinking, sanitation, crops and livestock. We equip and strengthen communities in water resource management to build climate change resilience and achieve lasting benefits. Since 1987 (as Wells for India) we have delivered small-scale community projects in India and since 2001, sub-Saharan Africa, currently in Ghana and Uganda. To date we’ve worked in over 2,000 villages helping 2.3 million people.

📰 Delighted to share our latest Annual Review! During 2023/2024 we delivered four rainwater harvesting programmes in India, commenced a new programme in Uganda and a pilot programme in Ghana. Our work supports a number of #SDGs beyond clean water, including education, poverty & health. 💧 We continue to work in remote areas, where climate change greatly affects the vulnerable communities who are still lacking access to a source of clean water close to their homes or schools. 🌍 Our programmes in #Ghana and #Uganda are growing – if you would like to support our work, please get in touch. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZwBsGfE #SDG6 #SDG2 #SDG4 #SDG1 #SDG3 #SDG13 #rainwaterharvesting #water #WaterSanitationandHygiene #climatechange #waterharvest

250 MILLION This is the staggering number of hours women and girls collectively spend on water collection EVERY single day. It is three times more than what men and boys do. The data is based on 53 countries. 👉 See the 2024 Gender Snapshot report from @UN_Women and @UNDESA: https://buff.ly/4e4l16r #GenderData

Excited to share a video of our dugout work in Ghana which completed last month! We are proud to have supported our local partner Saha Global, to expand & rehabilitate a large water dugout close to the village of Sinsina which has been drying out for several months at a time in recent years due to climate change. Having the dugout expanded hopefully means that: 💧 clean drinking water will be supplied to Sinsina residents all year round 🚶♀️ women & children will no longer have to walk long distances to source clean water when the dugout is dry 🙋♀️ children can stay in school & women can focus on other important activities to support their families Saha Global have not undertaken such work on dugouts before, so we are delighted to have funded this pilot. We are aiming to renovate five more dugouts in Ghana between now and 2027 – if you’d like to support this work please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you. Today we are sharing a short clip - watch the full video (5 minutes) at https://lnkd.in/dcMzqaCi #Ghana #waterharvest #sahaglobal #SDG6 #SDG2 #SDG4 #SDG1 #SDG3 #SDG13 #rainwaterharvesting #water #WaterSanitationandHygiene #climatechange #innovation

💧 🌍 Today is the United Nations International Day of Charity 🌏 💧 For almost 40 years we have worked in India and now Ghana & Uganda to harvest rainwater urgently needed to improve health, reduce poverty, build climate change resilience and free girls/women from water procurement. Our work generates a range of powerful outcomes, supporting a number of Sustainable Development Goals beyond clean water & sanitation. To date we’ve worked in over 2,000 villages helping 2.3 million people! 💧 It’s #WorldWaterWeek - to celebrate we are sharing a new video highlighting the impact our work is having in schools in Uganda. 📽 We built four rainwater harvesting tanks using ecoblocks at Nakateete Baptist Primary School earlier this year - we recently filmed teachers & pupils to see what impacts the tanks have made. Today we are sharing a clip from a teacher – you can watch the full video (3 mins) at https://lnkd.in/eKS9ZgZS 🙌 We know from almost 40 years’ experience that access to clean water not only improves drinking water availability, it has powerful impacts on health, education, sanitation, poverty, well-being and the environment. #SDG6 #SDG2 #SDG4 #SDG1 #SDG3 #SDG13 #rainwaterharvesting #water #WaterSanitationandHygiene #climatechange #WWWeek World Water Week #waterharvest Neil Mehta Alice La Trobe Weston Gareth Davies Fiona Beukes FCMI Justin Boynton

We work in Uganda where too many girls are dropping out of school when they start their periods. In the schools where we have installed rainwater harvesting tanks, we have seen a 23% increase in girl’s attendance as they have improved sanitation/menstruation facilities & are no longer missing classes to collect water from distant sources. 👉 We have built 47 tanks at 9 schools in Uganda & are raising funds for the remaining 60 tanks at 13 schools - please get in touch if your company can support our work, we would love to hear from you 💧 #periodpoverty #water #WaterSanitationandHygiene #Uganda #SDG3 #SDG4 #SDG6 #nowreading Neil Mehta Alice La Trobe Weston Gareth Davies Fiona Beukes FCMI Justin Boynton

In the UK, we take water for granted as a basic right but the United Nations estimates that 2.2billion people are still living without safe drinking water. As trustees we support the charity WaterHarvest in Uganda, and have just received their Impact Report for 2023. Read our latest blog to find out more. https://lnkd.in/en3KaMzQ
