  • Reina is an incredible ambassador who works tirelessly to identify and secure funding for essential services across the country. When it comes to listening and relating, she is exceptional. We couldn’t be more proud of you, Reina Edmiston 💙

I’m absolutely thrilled to say I won an award at yesterday’s National Awards held by Expert Citizens CIC 🎉 The National Insight Awards champion the voices of people with lived experience of drugs, alcohol, mental health and homelessness, and I was the overall winner in the Listening Category 😊 By listening to, and embedding our learning from people with lived experiences, we can keep improving support. If you’d told me in early recovery that my own lived experience would matter, I’d never have believed it, but here at WithYou every voice matters. Huge thanks to The Lankellychase Foundation and National Lottery for supporting what was an incredible event 💙 (And a huge thanks to Kendra Gray for snapping some photos for the socials!)

  • When people experience stress or pain, sometimes it can be tempting to use drugs or alcohol as a way to cope. If you're working with people who may be at risk of self-medicating, here's some guidance around the potential risks. If you're talking to someone about self-medicating its important to: 🙂 Do so in a way that is non-judgemental and demonstrates understanding 📕 Help them understand how short-term relief can lead to longer-term challenges 👉 Talk to them about the importance of seeking support for the problem they may self-medicate for If you or someone you know is using drugs or alcohol to self-medicate, you're not alone. • A huge thank you to everyone who attended today. We look forward to working with you over the next 20 years to achieve a future free from harm. #WYScotland20

Today, I was in Glasgow as WithYou marked 20 years of service in Scotland. It was a privilege to meet and listen to people from across Scotland who share a common purpose: helping those experiencing challenges with drugs and alcohol get the support they need and deserve. Speaking with individuals who have dedicated their careers - and often their entire lives - to this cause was both humbling and inspiring. I want to thank everyone who shared their stories and experiences with me today. Your stories are a powerful reminder of why the work we do at WithYou matters so much. A special thank you goes to all of our panellists today; Eric Carlin, Kirsten Horsburgh, Graeme Callander, Louise Stewart, Rosie Kelly, Rod Anderson, Trina Ritchie, alison crocket, Rowan Anderson, Jim McCormack, Pauline McCarron, Gerry Ferry and our host Catriona Stewart. I felt incredibly fortunate to be part of the discussions, which were rooted in decades of personal and professional experience. Many of those in the room will be instrumental in shaping the next 20 years, as we continue working toward a future free from harm. For each of us, what "a future free from harm" means may vary. But ultimately, we are united in striving for a world where those who need help can access it without barriers, and where we no longer see lives lost to drugs and alcohol. Early in my time as CEO at WithYou, I visited our services across Scotland and met with colleagues who work tirelessly to support their communities. Today, I saw that same passion in every person in the auditorium, and it reinforces my belief that together, we can achieve a future where harm is reduced, and support is always within reach. To my colleagues - past and present - who have been part of this journey over the past 20 years: thank you. Your dedication has changed countless lives, and I know you'll continue to make an incredible impact in the years to come. #WYScotland20
