Day 4: 22nd February Mini-fieldwork - A real-world practical to collect pilot data to answer your research question 💻 Day four of our training course was packed with valuable insights and hands-on learning! Dr. Yiqun Han, Research Fellow in IC, and Hanbin Zhang, PhD, Lecturer in Environment and Health, ECEHH, UniOfExeter, led an engaging coding session, demonstrating data processing and analysis techniques for attendees. We visualized air pollution and GPS data to gain deeper insights. Attendees also had the chance to participate in the Environmental Research Group's journal club and network over lunch. Specialized clinics helped address project planning needs, followed by practical fieldwork despite challenging weather conditions. Day 2: 20th February: Robust study design techniques - How to collectively design an interesting and manageable study 🌟 Another insightful day at the NERC Advanced Training Course on Wearable Technology! Prof. Ben Barratt kicked off the session, delving into the intriguing debate: Wearable Sensors – A revolution in human exposure assessment or just a trendy technological distraction? Dr. Yiqun HAN, Research Fellow in IC, and Hanbin Zhang, PhD, Lecturer in Environment and Health, ECEHH, UniOfExeter, followed up by giving a theoretical background on exposure science in different backgrounds, as well as giving an overview of study designs in exposure and health. Yiqun further presented the air quality supersites in London and their instrumentation. Excitingly, we embarked on a sensor-equipped tour of London, exploring air pollution hotspots and historical landmarks like the John Snow memorial pump.
