TOP-10 HOMEWARE PRODUCT TRENDS (October Edition) October in Homeware revolved largely around covetable, rarified pieces and space-maximising furnishings that offer flexibility to consumers who like to get creative with their interiors. #SocialMedia has certainly played a key role in homeware #trends this year, and October was no exception. TikTok’s fixation with interior design micro-influencers are likely behind the increase in searches for the items on our list. Want more insights like this? It’s here! The holy grail of shopping days, and one of the busiest all year, #BlackFriday comes tomorrow! But what should you be adding to the shopping basket or wish list for your loved ones now so you can be sure to grab it first thing tomorrow and nail Christmas morning? 🎄 Welcome to 'A Guide to Gifts People Actually Want’... The LinkedIn series uncovering people’s most wanted weekly to ease your holiday shopping experience - and avoid disappointing your loved ones - All thanks to the power of search data (via Metis)! 📈 With such a large selection of deals and sales, I’m going to do something a little different this week - a round-up if you will - covering the no.1 items to delight across gifting categories: Fashion, Beauty, Fragrance, Home & Electricals... 👗 Fashion - Burgundy dress – search demand +204% this month, +225% this week – a surprise to absolutely no one. Burgundy everything has been trending for months (it’s the new black don’t you know?) but dresses are the most coveted item of all - my personal favourite on sale now? Reformation's Irisa Dress. 💄 Beauty - WONDERSKIN – search demand +331% this month, +333% this week – for those of you that haven’t heard of this viral brand, they specialise in long-lasting make-up, and their lip stain is one of the most sought-after (and lauded) products on TikTok! 🌸 Fragrance – Vanilla perfume – search demand +56% this month, +46% this week – Not my personal choice but, KAYALI's Vanilla 28 is a firm favourite, featured in every glossy and bloggers’ top 10. 🏡 Home – SAD lamp – search demand +14% this month, +13% this week – The perfect gift for anyone – like me – prone to winter blues. 📱 Electricals – Apple's IPhone 16 – search demand +2360% this month, +2300% this year – Another obvious, if expensive choice, seemingly on absolutely everyone’s wish list this year – unless of course, you are an Android die-hard. ‘But Annabelle’, I hear you say, ‘why gift if they are likely to buy themselves?’, well not to continuously parrot myself but...a) Thanks to search data you know it’s what they want and b) We are all living through a cost of living crisis, so a bit of help to purchase the things that bring us joy never goes amiss. 🎁 Alternatively, if you’re a retailer looking to drive visibility that leads to sales, understanding what consumers desire down to the week will enable your business to optimise to do just that... For example, having visibility of the Burgundy trend curve has enabled my team at MediaVision (Sarina Kastendiek Hannah Sheaf Molly Goffin Katie Wiseman) to build multiple high-value links and relevant visibility for our brands months ahead of their competitors...and we could do the same for you, interested? #opportunityeverywhere Get in touch and/or stay tuned for the next edition of ‘A Guide to Gifts People Actually Want’...

So we have all seen the numerous posts on the #Jaguar re-brand but has it actually worked? I decided to delve into Metis by MediaVision to find out and I will be updating #jaguarwatch weekly to see if this huge surge in demand for Jaguar is to stay or just a flash in the pan. Would love to hear your feedback if you think this is likely to continue into sustained growth or more likely to alienate their core market and crash. If you would like to have this data weekly to uncover opportunities for your brand please drop me a comment and I'd be happy to arrange a demo! #metis #opportunityeverywhere

Search demand offers an honest and unfiltered insight into what people want and, with #Metis, when they want it. By understanding exactly what’s trending—and what’s not—fashion clients can be empowered to create and promote their most relevant content and offers, effectively capitalizing on these fleeting trends. For instance, while non-branded demand in the fashion sector has dropped by 11% over the past month, several key search trends within the category present valuable opportunities for brands as Black Friday approaches. The weather has played a major role, with milder temperatures initially reducing interest in heavier outerwear. However, this trend shifted in the past week—just in time for Black Friday. The following terms saw notable year-on-year growth in demand: Women’s Winter Coats: +26% YoY Puffer Jackets: +23% YoY Faux Fur Coats: +24% YoY This market data, accessible to MediaVision, 4 times faster than other tool, is an invaluable resource for our clients, enabling them to stay ahead of the competition.

TOP-10 BIGGEST HOMEWARE BRANDS (October edition) Homeware #brands nationwide struggled to regain slipping demand in October, with brand searches down -13% YoY. Despite this, there were some key winners who managed to grow their share of #SearchDemand and capitalise on industry #trends to grow in a tough market. As has been the case throughout 2024, B&Q dominated the homeware space in October, commanding 20% market share of search demand—a share that continues to grow, with the brand claiming an additional 0.7% last month. On the flip-side, wilko has seen its share of brand search tumble 3.3%—down nearly 40% on where they were during the same period in 2023. While the brand still claimed the 7th highest share of search in October, it’ll be one to watch over the coming months, especially if share of search continues to decline. It's Black Friday week and whilst panicking about presents, the wonderful Oscar Brown, Sarina Kastendiek and Jacky Lovato from our MediaVision team told me not to fear - they have toy report I can steal! 🥳 Using our unique Metis data they have confirmed demand is spiking for: - the LEGO Group +50% - Jellycat +120% - Hasbro's Monopoly +22% So off I go to purchase these - although Junior Monopoly is probably the way to go for a few more years (however, the 'Football World Stars' version might need adding to my own list.....) Whilst I know things are crazy at this time of year, if you want to know more about our unique data that means we react to search demand 4X faster than any other tool out there - just let me know! Good luck with your Black Friday and Cyber Monday purchases 💰 #data #toys #chrismtas #blackfriday

Your dose of Sunday Scaries... 👻 With searches around gifting women on the rise this week and last - ‘gifts for women’ +13%, ‘gifts for mum’ +37%, ‘gifts for girls’ +30%, ‘gifts for wife’ +4% (Metis) - I know many of you are scouring the internet for the perfect gift for that special lady in your life... 🎁 Now, jewellery (+9%), lingerie (+8%), a faux fur coat (+25%), or even this season’s must-have; a burgundy dress (+236%) may seem like the obvious decisions but in a world of ‘your body, my choice’ these all seem a little redundant...And of course, you don’t want to make the same mistake as Ballerina Farm’s husband and buy her an egg apron...even if you would be emulating the ‘aspirational’ lifestyle of a billionaire...dilemmas, dilemmas... 🤔 Well, never fear your gifting fairy is here to guide you towards some items that the ladies in your life may actually want and will certainly come in handy for them in a world where women’s rights seem to slowly be eroding... 🔫 Gun Licence UK – +168% this month, +83% this week – One for only the most determined to please of partners, this requires a lot of dedication, cash, no prior record, and assurance that you aren’t part of the problem. 🪓 Small Axe - +115% this month, +150% this week – Practical and handbag friendly! Just kidding...these are very illegal to carry unless according to UK Law you have ‘good reason’. 💦 Pepper Spray - +32% this month, +13% this week – Not at all legal if you are based in the UK but there are some good alternatives like FARB-GEL-SPRAY or NOYZIE that will keep her safe and on the right side of the law. 🎥 Home Security Camera - +81% this month, +38% this week – By far the least dangerous item on this list but certainly the most sensible and according to the UK Gov significantly reduces the risk of being attacked in your home. In all seriousness, none of these gifts – except perhaps the home security camera – are particularly realistic (or festive for that matter). However, seeing these and so many similar search terms rise in demand this month – coinciding with the result of the US election and the potential impact on women’s (and many others) rights this could have as well as other world events like the potential reduction of the age of consent in Iraq, and the ban on women raising their voices in Afghanistan – it seems to me that now more than ever may be a time to consider how people in your life are feeling about their safety and more importantly what you can do to support them...

We're #engaged! Our team, I mean, what else would you think I'd be announcing on LinkedIn?💍🤔 I'm talking about searches around engagements and marriage surging in the last month - and I'll go into why and how below. For those with clients in the finance sector, you will know that Rachel Reeves announced the new Autumn Budget on 30th October. Since then, searches around marriage tax (+23%), how to avoid inheritance tax (+410%) and estate planning (+33%) are all up in searches, but it didn't stop there... The UK budget announcements may have started as a conversation about tax, but the ripple effect has been remarkable. Changes to tax benefits have inspired many long-term couples to tie the knot, sparking a surge in searches for engagement rings, dreamy proposal locations, and wedding planning essentials. This isn’t just news to jump on for finance clients but also for jewellery retailers, travel providers, and even e-commerce platforms specialising in weddings and gifting. Just a few interesting marriage-related trends I've noticed this month on Metis below: 💛 Yellow diamond engagement ring +465% 🍐 Pear engagement rings +246%  💒 Wedding bands for women +174%  🤵 Gold ring for men +125% 👗 A line wedding dresses +121% 🛍 Vintage wedding dresses +78% Interestingly, wedding venues are down -19% - could this be because long-term couples are skipping straight to the registry office? As a travel lover myself, I would be disappointed if people were taking the plunge to get married but not treating to themselves to a nice honeymoon - so where are people looking to explore? 🌍 💕 Romantic Weekends Getaways +37% 🛥 Windermere lake cruises +91% 🏯 Flights to Japan are up +38% ✈ Bali flights +31% It’s a timely reminder of how interconnected our industries are. A change in one area can drive new opportunities across seemingly unrelated markets. Keeping an eye on these trends has sparked some great reactive ideas with our team this past week! Anyone else noticed any surprising connections through different sectors recently? #digitalpr #travelinsights #financeinsights
