The world of #retail changed a little last night as Currys plc received the Retail Technology Innovation Hub Award for “Inclusive Innovation in Retail”. We have no doubt at all that our retail guru contacts and our friends in disability advocacy will be over the moon that we are connecting improvements in service delivery to societal and commercial sustainability. Thank you all for your support. WelcoMe. #PurpleTuesday #RethinkRetail #Tech4Good #Access4All #Inclusion #DisabilityConfident. https://lnkd.in/dBMp2SHK
We were thrilled to receive an Inclusive Technology Innovation Award for our work with WelcoMe at last night’s Retail Technology Innovation Hub awards. Massive shout out to our partners and friends at WelcoMe – who are pioneering how retailers can welcome customers with disabilities into their stores. Their app is empowering our own colleagues to ensure that everyone can shop for amazing technology at Currys, no matter their requirements for support in store. Quality Assurance executive, Rebecca Hewitt, who attended the awards alongside Abbie Harrington, said: “What a night! This means so much to me personally, especially as someone who is neurodivergent, and of course the whole organisation. One in five people in the UK live with a disability, 80% of which are hidden. It’s so important everyone can get the support they need when shopping – it sound easy, but it often isn’t, which is why this work with WelcoMe is so important.” #AmazingTechnology
