About us

West Cumbria Rivers Trust is an environmental charity working to restore and enhance the rivers, lakes, estuaries and surrounding countryside of West Cumbria. The Trust’s work includes improving water quality, enhancing habitats to improve wildlife diversity and reducing flood risk. Education sessions are run for schools, teaching the next generation about the importance of our environment. The Trust is based in Keswick, Cumbria and employs 16 staff. It is supported by volunteers who donated over 2,000 hours of their time in the year to March 2020. The Trust is a registered charity and relies entirely on public donations, grants and fund-raising to carry out its work. It is independent but works closely with partners such as the Environment Agency, Natural England, numerous charitable and environmental organisations and private companies and individuals to deliver maximum benefit.
