Wild Bioscience

Founding Wild Bioscience has taken us to some fascinating places, but I don’t think Steven Kelly or I imagined that Parliament would be one of them! We were honoured that The Royal Society invited us to exhibit our work at the National Academies Climate & Sustainability showcase at Westminster yesterday. It was a real privilege to share how we develop enabling technologies for food security with such an engaged audience of MPs, peers, and representatives from national academies. And we even had a sunny blue sky.

Yesterday we had a National Academies Showcase on Climate and Sustainability in the House of Commons. Many thanks to Bill Esterson MP, Chair of the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee and Professor Lord Mair CBE FREng FRS for hosting us. Hayaatun Sillem spoke on behalf of the academies on the varied work done in this field (sometimes literally, as in the case of Wild Bioscience). My fav thing was the BladeBUG robot that is used on wind turbines for maintenance. Also great to meet my colleagues at The Academy of Medical Sciences, The British Academy & last but def not least, The Royal Society Also a big shout out to Michael Williams for organising such a great event. #RAEng #bladeBUG #royalsociety #britishacademy

Wow that's not a sight I was expecting to see this morning! Thanks Norrsken for putting us on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square during Climate Week NYC! Norrsken have an awesome campaign where they work with top investors to identify and showcase 100 impactful startups working on ways to fix the future. I'm beyond proud to see Wild Bioscience in the Impact/100. Also many thanks to Sifted for highlighting us as one of the 13 UK companies who made it onto the global list! For anyone looking for 100 reasons to get excited about the future I highly recommend browsing these lists (shared in the comments below).

Here's Wild scientist Alexander Bridgen presenting at the🔥THE HEAT #climatetech festival hosted by VOYAGERS.io last Friday. We had fun showcasing our progress developing carbon sequestering crops to transform farms into the world's biggest carbon sink!

We recently welcomed BBC South to our HQ to show them how we are developing climate-smart crops. This video clip features our CEO Ross Hendron and researchers Joey Lau, Thea Jones, and Cerys Viner.

I'm immensely proud of our entire team for bringing the dedication and ingenuity that makes Wild Bio a great, and now award-winning, business! Many thanks to the judges at Oxfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (OxLEP) for awarding us the New Business Award! And many thanks to the judges at The Oxford Trust and Oxfordshire Business First for awarding us the Emerging Tech Business Award! It was a pleasure to host you all as you got to know us for the Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA). The Oxford innovation ecosystem is thriving, with so many other fantastic companies in attendance at the awards. It’s great to be a (growing) part of this community.

It was nice to reflect on Wild Bioscience's mission and founding story with Oxford University Innovation & University of Oxford recently. The Oxford ecosystem is special for many reasons. Being part of it has been transformative for me on a personal level. More than 50 years after the conclusion of the space race, the term moonshot is enjoying a revival. This year the World Agri-tech Innovation summit had its own moonshot theme: How do we create a climate-resilient agricultural system? We need to cultivate more moonshots.
