Where Past Meets Precedent William Sturges LLP lineage dates back to 1780. Being headquartered in historic Westminster, we're constantly discovering fascinating pieces of local history and, as inquisitive lawyers, connecting these discoveries to the evolution of law. Did you know that Duck Island, a hidden gem in St James Park, became home to pelicans in 1612 when Russia gifted them to the Royal Park? The 17th century also saw the introduction of many laws, most notably with the 1689 Bill of Rights. This landmark document, written in iron gall ink on parchment, established fundamental principles we still rely on today: parliamentary privilege, free elections, freedom of speech in Parliament and protection from unjust treatment by courts. Its influence continues to echo through modern legal cases. From the pelicans of St James Park to the foundations of English common law, our location continues to inspire our practice. #LegalHeritage #LondonHistory #Westminster #WilliamSturges #ModernLaw

Embracing Change, Wellbeing and Innovation: William Sturges LLP Key Takeaways from LawNet Ltd Conference 2024 Our recent attendance at the LawNet Ltd Conference sparked reflections on our unique position. As London's second oldest law firm with a lineage dating back 250+ years, we've witnessed countless transformations in legal practice. Three key insights emerged from the conference that resonated with us: Digital Transformation: David Rowan's keynote reinforced that embracing AI isn't optional - it's essential for survival. As he quoted, "AI won't take your job, but someone using AI will." We're committed to leading in technological adoption while maintaining our core values. Workplace Wellbeing: Dr Sinéad Devine-French's session emphasised the importance of proactive mental health support. In our high-pressure profession, building resilience and prioritising well-being at work is crucial for sustainable success. Future Work Culture: Rahaf Harfoush's insights on digital culture highlighted how modern teams must balance innovation with human connection. This resonates with our approach to blending tradition with contemporary practices. As a firm, we are committed to honouring our heritage, nurturing our people and embracing the future of legal practice for generations to come. #LegalInnovation #WellbeingAtWork #WilliamSturges #LawNet #lnconf24
