About us
Wimbart is a boutique public relations company with a heavy emphasis on Africa & emerging markets. We produce hyper-targeted, relevant & meaningful media campaigns for a range of international clients. Instinctive, forward thinking & masters of our sectors, we work across technology, start-ups, entertainment, social enterprises, entrepreneurs and consumer products, to deliver memorable press campaigns. Our capabilities stretch far beyond traditional public relations agencies; we write beautiful copy, build brands and break big news stories. Why are we different? We don’t cut corners, we don’t stop until we achieve excellence, we don’t just send out pointless mass-mail shots and hope for the best. Instead, we curate our clients’ story and engage with journalists and commentators who we’ve spent years building relationships with, to deliver credible, powerful media presence for them.

Before #WimbartMafia came #IROKOMafia -----> 🚀 Fun Fact🚀 this is where our CEO Jessica Hope first met our Associate Director Maria Adediran
See my first two bosses in African tech - Jason Njoku and Bastian Gotter. We were all fortunate enough to have an #IROKOMafia reunion in Nairobi 🇰🇪 as part of Africa Tech Summit 13+ years ago Jason asked me to quit my comms job in a museum and head up global PR for IROKO Partners Limited. 10 years ago, he "kicked me out" of the company to set up on my own. On the back of our success we had with growing the IROKO brand, he saw the opportunity for me in terms of building my own PR company for the continent's growing tech scene. IROKO was my first client, and Wimbart has also since carried out work for Bastian and his portfolio companies too. But before IROKO, we were all connected from our time at The University of Manchester. People.... that's 20+ years of being connected. This is a long-term game we are all playing; what we've pioneered in our areas of discipline and what we've achieved [or in the process of achieving] collectively and individually is nothing short of incredible. The war stories from well over a decade of doing business on the continent deserves its own whatsapp group... 📸 These pictures feel like they still capture our 20-something year old energy. We are all still here, we are all still hustling, we are all still leading by example ✌🏽

We’re thrilled to see our Associate Director, Maria Adediran, back on the judging panel for The Pros Awards 2025, supported by Google. This is the first industry event where Black, Asian, Mixed Race, and other ethnic minority PR and comms professionals lead the judging. Representation matters, so head to theprosawards.com and get those entries in before the final deadline on 16 April #theprosawards #bmeprpros
Whoop Whoop 💃🏿 💃🏿 💃🏿 I’m excited to be back on the The Pros Awards 2025 judging panel. Supported by Google UK, this is the first industry event where Black, Asian, Mixed-Race, and other ethnic minority #PR and #comms professionals lead the judging, celebrating the very best in inclusive work. According to the CIPR, around 87% of PR practitioners are White ethnicity, 5% Asian, 4% Mixed ethnicity, and 3% Black, highlighting a glaring diversity gap that needs urgent attention. That’s why I believe in these awards, developed by #bmeprpros Founder Elizabeth Bananuka - and their mission to shine a light on underrepresented talent in the UK. Submissions are now open. The deadline for the Super Early Bird is 11 March, for the Early Bird on 25 March, and for the final deadline on 16 April. Enter at theprosawards.com - why? Because representation truly matters. #theprosawards

"Kenya’s media is loud. The noise is relentless, from the 24/7 news cycle to the ever-chirping bird that is Twitter (sorry, X)." In Kenya, navigating the media landscape as a startup can feel like trying to herd cats while juggling flaming spears. Why? Because the media scene is fast, dynamic, and deeply intertwined with local culture. Cutting through the noise takes more than just luck. It takes strategy, storytelling, and strong relationships. In this blog post, our own Stella Nasambu MPRSK explains how startups can navigate this vibrant ecosystem, titled “𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁-𝗨𝗽” Key takeaways include: 1️⃣ Know Your Audience – Kenyan media is a blend of English, Swahili, and Sheng. Tailor your messaging to resonate with the local pulse (and maybe get a #KOT shoutout). 2️⃣ Tell a Story That Matters – Dry press releases won’t cut it. Connect with readers through relatable, culturally relevant narratives. 3️⃣ Build Real Relationships – A cup of chai and a genuine chat with a journalist can open more doors than even the slickest PR pitch. Fascinating report from WeeTracker on the role that Early-Stage investors played in African VC deals in 2024. A must-read!
🌱 Early-Stage Investors Lead the Charge in African VC Deals for 2024 🚀 Despite a steep drop in early-stage funding—from nearly one-third to under 10% of total capital—dedicated investors are leading the charge, backing the next wave of high-growth African startups. In 2024, early-stage investors accounted for the highest number of deals, seeding the pipeline for tomorrow’s unicorns. Their bets today could define Africa’s startup success stories tomorrow—but only with continued support and capital to drive growth and product-market fit. 📥 Download our free report to explore Africa’s VC landscape. https://bit.ly/3X8A46J #AfricanStartups #VentureCapital #EarlyStageInvesting #AfricaVC
