Click here for the latest blog from Huw Miles of Paris Smith LLP and Chair of Winchester BID exploring the tax announcements in the Budget and their impact on businesses. ⬇️
As we digest the implications of today's Budget, my latest blog explores the tax announcements and their impact on businesses. The Chancellor's plan to raise an additional £40bn - to balance the books according to her new fiscal rules - through increased capital gains, VAT, stamp duty, and inheritance tax, reflects the ongoing economic challenges. I note that, "businesses do not exist in a vacuum – they are connected to the state and consumers." And if business owners are taxed, they will spend less as individuals, while their businesses also invest less. Although this budget wasn't tailored for business, no one has yet found the magic formula on tax. #Budget2024 #AutumnStatement #Tax
