  • The Cyber threat is ‘widely underestimated’ according to the NCSC Annual Review published last Tuesday. Richard Horne urges organisations to ‘collectively boost resilience’ amid signs of widening gap between risks faced and ability to handle them. As a result, Winmark is pleased to share a brand-new resource: the Cyber Response Pack, ESET's most quoted cybersecurity research worldwide.  During a recent joint meeting of NEDs and CIOs, it was reinforced that every organisation needs a robust cyber response plan. While some organisations are regularly practicing and refining their responses, others are still developing their maturity in this area. To address this disparity, we reached out to members and collaborated with ESET, our Cyber Technical Partner, to create the Cyber Response Pack. ESET integrated member feedback, their extensive cyber expertise, and best practices to develop this comprehensive guide. This pack is designed to: •   Help identify and address gaps in your existing response plans. •   Provide a clear, actionable framework for organisations at earlier stages of preparedness. To learn more about the guide and Winmark’s Chief Information Network, please leave a comment below or contact John Jeffcock. #CyberSecurity #CIO #CyberThreat #NewResearch

  • Yesterday, the Winmark CMO Community had the pleasure of closing out 2024 with a wonderful and insightful discussion on ‘Thought Makers – Creating Effective Thought Leadership in the Age of AI’. Our members were graciously hosted by the fantastic team at Clyde & Co, and we were privileged to be joined by CEO & Founder, Claire Mason and Alison Sharpe, who expertly presented cutting edge research from B2B Thought Consultancy, Man Bites Dog. The presentation was then accompanied by a thoughtful panel conversation, chaired and moderated by the increasingly transformative Chair of the Winmark CMO Network, James Lloyd, in which we were lucky to be joined by Scott Hamilton, Senior Investment Writer & Content Strategist, State Street Global Advisors, and Catherine Qi, Head of Research, Winmark. An extremely interesting morning and some of the key takeaways from the discussion included:   1. The Power of Forward-Looking Insight Thought leaders set trends, not just report them. Predictive trends hold more value than retrospective insights, helping organizations stand out and avoid the trap of creating “state of the nation” reports. Thought leadership should focus on driving unique perspectives tied to future scenarios, positioning leaders as visionaries rather than followers. 2. The Bold Idea: Balancing Risk and Conviction Boldness paired with evidence drives credibility and impact. Effective thought leadership stems from deep conviction and rigorous research. While bold ideas resonate, their success depends on navigating internal advocacy, presenting evidence to senior stakeholders, and taking calculated risks that align with organizational strengths and client perceptions. 3. AI: Amplification, Not Creation Leverage AI as a tool, not a substitute for originality. Generative AI excels at repackaging quality content and tailoring messages to segmented audiences but lacks the ability to craft truly original ideas. Leaders should use AI to amplify well-researched, diagonal thematic content rather than rely on it for ground-breaking innovation. Thank you to our wonderful attendees for joining us in closing out the year with such a valuable morning – see you all in 2025! Anne Blackman, Roger McDowell, Georgia Loustric, Sandra Ibeto, Rhodri Jones, Richard Edgar, Selina Cowell, David Price, Katherine Howbrook, Nigel Gracie, Yvonne Luu, Robert Pinheiro, Nicole Gibbs, Charndeep Khattar, Catherine Clark, Helen Mitchell, Edel Brittle, Andrew Carrier

I help senior leadership teams of finance and technology firms build their brands, protect their reputations and achieve growth by delivering outcome-driven marketing & communications strategy.

Attended an interesting session this morning about thought leadership in the age of #AI - hosted by Winmark and delivered by the Man Bites Dog team - including CEO Claire Mason. Key takeaway? AI is, by its very nature, a thought follower. You’ll never be a thought leader by using AI. What it can do is repackage the value. It does that very, very well. #IMTW subscribers will have more insights from the session delivered straight to their inboxes at six on Sunday. • We are delighted to welcome Venetia Bell as the Chair of the Winmark CSO Membership Board. Venetia Bell is the Chief Operating Officer of the Clean Air Fund, a philanthropic initiative tackling global air pollution. Prior to joining the Clean Air Fund, Venetia was the Chief Sustainability Officer for Gulf International Bank.    According to Venetia: "Being a Chief Sustainability Officer can be tough. In many organisations, it's a fairly new role, so there's a build required. Significant engagement is typically needed to get buy-in to sustainability strategies and initiatives. Incoming regulation and reporting requirements are making our lives easier and harder at the same time. And the clock is against us, with significant expected shortfalls across nearly all UN Sustainable Development Goals to 2030. All this means that access to a network of like-minded, experienced professionals tackling similar issues but in different contexts can be hugely beneficial." To learn more about 's network for Sustainability leaders please contact John Jeffcock. Ibrahim Al-Zu'bi Isidora Díaz Heredia Kelly A.
