📢 March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month! In Ghana, government healthcare policies have made significant progress by covering treatment costs for four types of childhood cancers. However, brain tumours remain excluded, leaving families unable to afford vital care. As a result, families are left struggling to cover the high cost of brain surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and essential MRI scans—often making treatment impossible. Since 2020, our partner hospitals in Ghana have diagnosed 116 children with brain tumours, including 32 new patients in 2024 alone. Without financial support, most of these children cannot access treatment. With your help, we can change this. Every donation makes a tangible impact: ✅ £77 – Diagnostic brain scan ✅ £26 – One day of intensive care ✅ £254 – Full radiation therapy *Figures as of 2024 Let’s work together to give children with brain tumours hope beyond diagnosis. Donate today! https://bit.ly/3SWo8FA #BrainTumourAwareness #HealthcareEquity #SupportPaediatricCare #WorldChildCancer

Every child with cancer, wherever they live in the world, should have equal access to the best possible treatment & care
About us
World Child Cancer’s vision is to see a world where every child with cancer has access to the best possible treatment and care. Our mission is to improve cancer diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for children in low and middle income countries, tackling the global inequality in the treatment of childhood cancer. We do this by establishing twinning partnerships linking hospitals in the developing world with hospitals in the developed world to provide a two-way transfer of expertise and skills to create locally appropriate solutions to the problem of childhood cancer in each country. This expertise and knowledge sharing is generously donated for free by our network of dedicated healthcare professionals.

💛 Meet Alinafe and Zione—a childhood cancer survivor and her mother from Malawi. As our Learn, Heal, Thrive campaign comes to a close, we celebrate survivors like Alinafe and the dedication of parents like Zione. This month, we’ve shared the power of education in transforming the lives of children with cancer, and Alinafe’s story is a testament to that change. For children facing cancer, education is more than just learning—it’s about allowing kids to be kids again. 📚 Thanks to the incredible support of Amgen (Sean Lybrand, Philip Anderson), children not only receive vital cancer care but also the opportunity to return to school and reclaim their childhood. Today, Zione is overjoyed to see her daughter fully recovered, back in school, and playing the sports she loves. Will you stand with childhood cancer survivors? Your support can provide scholarships and educational opportunities for children like Alinafe, giving them the chance to Learn, Heal, and Thrive. ⏳ This is your last chance to be part of this movement. A Milestone for Children's Palliative Care in Ghana! ✨ 🇬🇭 January 2025 marked a significant achievement in Accra—the successful completion of a transformative project dedicated to strengthening children’s palliative care in Ghana. Launched in February 2024, this initiative delivered 10 specialised training sessions over the course of a year, providing healthcare professionals with essential medical, social, and psychological skills to support children with life-limiting conditions. Led by World Child Cancer and the International Children's Palliative Care Network (ICPCN)—with funding from Global Health Partnerships (formerly THET)'s Global Health Workforce—this programme has trained 128 healthcare professionals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide compassionate, high-quality care. 🩺 This project has been a collective effort, bringing together healthcare providers, caregivers, policymakers, and global partners—all united in their commitment to advancing childhood palliative care in Ghana. 💛 👏 Thank you to everyone who contributed—partners, healthcare professionals, and supporters. Access to childhood cancer medicines should not depend on where a child is born. Through the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines, led by World Health Organization and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, life-saving treatments are now reaching children in Nepal and other pilot countries. We’re proud to see these medicines arrive in one of our programme countries and to be part of a global effort to ensure every child has access to the treatment they need. But medicine alone isn’t enough—early diagnosis, skilled healthcare professionals, and family support are also essential, and our work continues to make this a reality. This past weekend, as the world marked International Childhood Cancer Day, a major milestone was achieved in the fight against childhood cancer. The World Health Organization (WHO) and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital begun delivering essential childhood cancer medicines to pilot countries as part of the Global Platform for Access to Childhood Cancer Medicines. We are incredibly proud to be working with this initiative and to see these life-saving medicines arrive in Nepal—one of our programme countries—at such a critical time. This marks a significant step in ensuring that children, regardless of where they live, can access the treatment they need. With further shipments planned, the impact will be transformative, reaching up to 5,000 children across at least 30 hospitals this year. With the next six countries also announced, we are also excited to be crossing over with the Global Platform in Ghana, where World Child Cancer is one of the leading international non profits in paediatric oncology. We can't wait to get to work! At World Child Cancer, we know that timely access to quality medicines can mean the difference between life and death for a child with cancer. But access alone isn’t enough — ensuring effective treatment also requires working healthcare systems, expert healthcare professionals, early diagnosis, and child and family support. That’s why our work continues, so every child has the best chance of survival. This is an important moment, but there is still more to do. Let’s keep pushing for a world where every child, no matter where they are born, has access to the cancer treatment they need. 📢 Read more about this initiative here: 🔗 WHO Release: https://lnkd.in/eSvudB6Y 🔗 St. Jude Global Platform: https://lnkd.in/ewSk7UXW #ChildhoodCancer #GlobalHealth #AccessToMedicines #WorldChildCancer #WHO #StJude #ChildhoodCancerInternational
