A highly inspiring & motivational afternoon spent with Goal17 Mentoring & WOWMoments at Tottenham Hotspur Foundation learning about mentoring young care leavers. HP are delighted to partner with the foundation in helping support young care leavers to develop life skills to aid their success as they transition from care. Many care leavers face the “care cliff “ as they reach 16 years old and start the transition of leaving the care system at the age of 18. For many this is a very daunting time and it can be extremely challenging to suddenly become totally responsible for all aspects of life with limited or no support. The mentoring provided will help overcome many of lifes daily challenges. To develop important life & professional skills is vital in helping care leavers become independent and successful in finding their place in the community. Meet these Legends! 🙌🏻 Yes, they look like normal people… but they are exceptional! They are from all different walks of life, ages and background. The one thing they all have in common is they want to be part of making a difference. We were overjoyed to welcome Resham Kotwal Dan Thorp Mairead Claydon Alastair Currie Rebecca W. Sarah Collins Christopher Foglietta Howard Garbutt Alexandra Archer Amma Solomon-Graham as the next group of Care Leaver Mentors in #Cambridge yesterday. Each of them will volunteer a couple of hours a month to support a young person as they transition out of the care system and into independent living. This is a MEGA! For many of these young people our volunteers will be the first adult they have ever had a relationship with who is not paid to be there. This changes the dynamics of their relationships and belief in the their own value. It was wonderful to have Jen Elliott and Judith Elliott FCIPD from the last cohort join us to share their experience. Their mentees making such incredible progress with their support. 🌈 COULD YOU BE PART OF THE NEXT COHORT?? 🌈 We are recruiting mentors across the U.K. You don’t need any experience, just a big enough heart to care and 1 to 2 hours a month to support a young person. We are looking for 25 amazing #northamptonshire Business People with BIG HEARTS ❤️ to help transform a young person's life and become part of an elite group. In January 2024 an exclusive nationwide mentoring programme is coming to #northampton. 🙌 It brings together business leaders who want to make a positive impact in their community.💪🏻 This special group of 25 will give just a couple of hours of volunteering a month. They will receive award-winning training (for free) that qualifies them for a university certificate in mentoring. Then they will be matched with a young care leaver from within the county. This is a life-changing experience for everyone involved and helps mentors learn new skills, raise their profile, be seen as a beacon of light within their community, and most importantly have the chance to transform a young person's life.😊 The programme is fully funded and will be hosted by some of the most important organisations within Northamptonshire. It is a limited opportunity for an incredible experience.
