  • Test Method IP630 counts the amount of small particles found within diesel fuel and displays the results as ISO 4406 cleanliness codes. The test starts by tumbling the prepared sample end over end for 60 seconds at a rate of 1 revolution per second. The inlet tube is then washed with filtered heptane, before being inserted into the sample. The test method is then selected, and a test is run. IP630 requires 50ml of sample to be flushed through the instrument, followed by 3 x 10ml of sample which is measured by the instrument. The results are averaged and then displayed as ISO4406 cleanliness codes. For Diesel fuel to be considered clean, it should meet ISO4406 cleanliness codes of 18/16/13

Here is another test we undertake in our laboratory, a Karl Fischer Titration Test.   -         The Karl Fischer Titration Test identifies the amount of water within the fuel and provides a result in parts per million (ppm). -         Diesel fuel has a maximum allowed water content of 200 ppm defined in the EN-590 standard.   As always, the test is repeated 3 times to ensure the accuracy and validity of the results, which are then compared to the relevant industry standard. -This sample successfully passed the water content test.

Here is one of the many tests we perform in our laboratory - a Closed Cup Flash Point Test.   Diesel fuel has a minimum allowed flash point of 55°C, defined in EN-590 fuel standards.   The Flash Point Test identifies the volatility and fire hazards associated with diesel fuel, ensuring safety and reliability in its usage. The test is repeated 3 times to ensure the accuracy and validity of the results.   As seen here, this sample successfully passed Flash Point test.
