💜 16 Days of Activism: We are continuing our fight to end gender-based violence everywhere, and today, we’re shining a light on an important issue: GBV in climate action. Women, girls, and diverse people are often excluded from decision-making roles in climate action. This needs to change. 📈 In Cambodia and Lao PDR, 42% of women environmental human rights defenders reported safety concerns as a major barrier to their participation in natural resource management. To build a truly just transition, we must ensure that everyone, especially women and marginalized groups, have a seat at the table. Climate action is incomplete without their voices. 💜 16 Days of Activism: We are committed to supporting efforts in ending violence against women and girls in all settings, this includes schools. Schools can be effective environments to manage interventions to prevent and respond to GBV. 📈Our new report on violence in and around school found that high rates of absenteeism in school for girls have further impacts on their futures, as they become more at risk of child or early forced marriage or pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections such as HIV/AIDS. 🔗 Learn more about how to prevent violence in and around schools here: https://lnkd.in/e_sPw_SA #EndGBV #16DaysofActivism
