Thank you to Lucía Barreiro for covering our partnership with Kames in her latest edition. It's a real pleasure to work with Cate Cannon and the team to develop the first selective breeding programme for sea trout in the UK. The article explores the significant commercial benefits of genetics, and also showcases the partnership in action.

Xelect are very happy to announce the newest member of the team - Angel Carrasquillo. Angel obtained his MSc in Biological and Environmental Sciences from the University of Rhode Island and his BSc in Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Miami. During his education he acquired skills in genetics, bioinformatics and aquaculture and now works with our clients to create high performance breeding programmes.

It's been a summer of growth at Xelect: welcome to the team, Craig Fairgrieve. Craig is a highly skilled digital strategist who began his career in technology and web development before branching out into the world of search engine optimisation, content strategy and digital marketing. He has provided digital strategies and guidance across a range of B2B and B2C clients, including The Gleneagles Hotel, SSE Business Energy and Lloyds TSB. Look out for more announcements in the next couple of weeks!

Our Head of Analytics and R&D, Dr Mark Looseley, will also be presenting, sharing details of our new services designed to bring digitalisation to aquaculture genetics and how the powerful software we have developed can help us model the economic impact of different selective breeding strategies. Our Head of Breeding Programmes, Dr Marie Smedley, will also be presenting our insights into the role of genetics in the health of Atlantic Salmon. Hot on the heels of last week's announcement about our growing company, we're delighted to add Danielle MacRae to the Xelect family! Danielle joins us as Scientific Officer, and brings with her a wealth of experience in high quality, high throughput laboratory work. Welcome, Dani!

We have a number of new additions to our growing team to announce in the coming weeks, but to get the ball rolling welcome to Dr Rose K. Basiita who joins us as Senior Breeding Programme Manager. Rose joins the team from WorldFish, where she was leading research into genetic selection for various tilapia species, leading the design and management of aquaculture for a number of regional programmes. Welcome to the team, Rose!
