Xtrutech have started the new year by shipping an order of giant barrel housings to a customer in the UK. Designed and manufactured at our UK Head Office, this barrel housing has been built for a 160mm twin-screw extruder for an adhesives application. To compare the extraordinary size of these housings you can see a range of XTS screws for our 35mm, 56mm, and 65mm extruders as well as an Xtrutech mug. As part of this project we have manufactured a full screw configuration alongside these housings for an extruder over 30 years old. Christmas Compactor Trials! Our final trial for the year has taken place in the Xtrutech Innovation Centre on an XTS Compactor. Customer Service Manager Andrew Walker and UK Head of Sales and Development Scott Cottrell led the trial after giving it a Christmas makeover. The XTS Compactor is a fines recycling system for the powder coatings industry which reduces waste by compacting fines and reintroducing them to the mill as reusable chips. It is an innovative solution to fines waste and can offer a 99.5% product yield by reducing waste. This supports businesses to reach their sustainability targets, reduce cost to landfill waste, and improve production extrusion capacity as there is no need to reprocess fines through an extruder. We have recently completed a powder coating trial on the XTS35 Twin Screw Extruder in our Innovation Centre. The trial was led by System Integration and Test Engineer Dan Chetwyn alongside Engineering Support Technician Jack Wild with support from Xtrutech Inc's Senior Technical Sales Specialist Kyle Doyle. The team worked to showcase how quality and throughput could be maximised through process improvements. The XTS35 Twin Screw Extruder based in our state-of-the-art Innovation centre can be used effectively as a laboratory extruder when high free volume is necessary, or as a low scale production extruder for speciality products. At the Centre our team can also support trials on our high powered XTSXP-19 extruder which has an increased torque, motor speed, and screw speed for the most demanding extrusion processes. Xtrutech design and manufacture a range of production extruders for high output applications including the XTS65. The XTS65 is a high output twin-screw extruder in the XTS range which is perfect for efficient powder coating production with our innovative clamshell geometry and a maximum output of 2,400 kg/h depending on material formulation. The 65mm extruder is built to pair seamlessly with an Xtrutech cooling system. The XTDC5 drum cooler and XTCC 1.5x8m cooling conveyors can be built to seamlessly integrate with this extruder to provide optimum cooling efficiency. This version of the XTS65 features a side feeder with our innovate Clean-in-Place hopper for automated cleaning in as few as 10 minutes. This is a system in which compressed air is injected into the feeder along with resin chips to create a vortex within the hopper. The lighter dust is removed through extraction and the remaining resin is used to purge the extruder. This system pairs perfectly with the clamshell barrel which allows essential access to the screw and shafts, reducing downtime for cleaning and maintenance. Xtrutech are the only OEM specialising in full powder coating extrusion lines and work in partnership to develop configurations that meet specialist requirements.
