Wishing all our clients and connections a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. It’s been a busy year at YorWealth, with two Elections and a budget from a new government it created lots of discussions with clients as to how this might impact them. We are also really pleased to have expanded our team to 8, with Maddy Bhowmick joining us as apprentice paraplanner and Beth Shipley as Financial Planner. Our nominated charity for 2025 will remain The Island York, and we look forward to supporting you with various initiatives. Please take a look at some of the many highlights of 2024. A special mention and thank you to a few people who have supported us in developing our business Andy Knowles - Assetiam Business Consultancy Services, York, Matt Stirland and Michelle Mook. We are closed for the Bank Holidays, but will have a skeleton staff available during the Christmas period, and you can contact us on the normal number of 01904 623888 or contactus@yorwealth.co.uk https://lnkd.in/dZCgNys3

Power of Attorney and Financial Planning Safeguarding your Financial Future with Lasting Powers of Attorney is more than just making a good investment return Often, when planning for our future, we tend to focus intensely on how much we might need in future years. That might be for retirement, saving up for a specific expenditure or needing money for some other anticipated life-affecting event. Our thoughts then turn to building up our funds in order to achieve this. This usually happens over many years of saving and investment, even decades as is the case with our retirement savings. We look to create a financial plan, invest soundly and make our arrangements as tax-efficient as possible. Our team ensure all elements of your future finances can be handled effectively. As financial advisers, our job is to help people with their financial arrangements, or to revise future ambitions to a more achievable level given an individual’s circumstances. What we rarely see is provision put in place to protect these assets should an individual lose capacity. Losing capacity can be mental and/or physical but it can render a person unable to deal with their finances. Imagine having worked for years, building up the required asset base only to then be incapacitated for a period of time. You could end up with large sums of money in limbo as you are unable to deal with things until the State, in the form of a court appointed deputy, are able to step in. This is a process that can take months and can be expensive. Lasting Powers of Attorney Instead, we always advise our clients to look into Lasting Powers of Attorney (or LPAs) for their financial affairs and health and wellbeing. This enables trusted friends and family to act on your behalf whilst you are unable with regards to certain crucial aspects of your welfare. Legally, attorneys must act within certain limits and with a duty of care. They can step in to put your savings to the best possible use for you. help ensure those savings you have worked so hard to build continue to be deployed to your benefit. Lasting Powers of Attorney is a crucial but often overlooked part of everyone’s financial plan. We would always strongly recommend that clients talk to their solicitor about putting some kind of arrangement in place. If you haven't got a solicitor we work very closely with some excellent law practices and can help you find one that works for you. Get in touch to talk to our team about your financial future today. Contact us on 01904 623888 or email contactus@yorwealth.co.uk The value of your investments can go down as well as up. You could get back less than you invested. Remember, a pension is a long term investment. The fund value may fluctuate and can go down. Your eventual income may depend on the size of fund when accessed, interest rates and legislation.

This a terrible situation that Forget Me Not Children's Hospice finds itself in, and it is such a vital charity supporting families living with or facing the loss of their child. If you as an individual or a company can find anything to help them then please contact Georgia Lane MCIOF (Cert).
This week has been one of the saddest and most difficult we have ever faced at Forget Me Not Children's Hospice 💜 We are facing a £1 million funding gap as well as having to reduce our own costs by £750k. Despite all the press, lobbying and attention over the last few months we still face uncertainty over future statutory funding. This, combined with rising costs has left us with no option but to reduce our costs by making redundancies and scaling back some of our services. As a children’s hospice who provide such essential care for families in their darkest times, we should not even be having to consider these choices. Please can all my contacts SHARE this post and if you can make a donation, follow the link below. Thank you 💜 #charity #hospice #funding #urgent #appeal

As you know Beth Shipley joined us just a few short weeks ago as a Financial Planner and really feels part of the team already. So we thought we would share a few words from Beth...

Last week we invited Ken Anderson from Phoenix Rises to share his Communication and Resilience workshops with us all. It was a great session insightful, practical and useful for all of us to take forward both in our personal and business lives. I think a few of participants were sceptical before the session of a so called "wellbeing session ", but this was so much more and everyone came away with learns... The reason we would recommend Ken he is using life and work experiences to bring practical ideas to help, rather than just read it in a book. Below is a link to his website
