The gender gap in health research isn't just a feminist issue – it's an economic imperative. When half of our population receives substandard healthcare due to medical knowledge gaps, we all pay the price. Consider this: women lose an average of 9 working years to undiagnosed health conditions, while endometriosis alone costs the UK economy £8.2 billion annually in lost productivity. The math is simple: we can't build thriving economies while ignoring the health needs of 51% of our workforce. From the 7.5-year diagnostic delay for endometriosis to the 80% of women experiencing debilitating menopause symptoms at work, these aren't just health statistics – they're economic barriers. In an era where every percentage point of GDP growth matters, can we really afford to let preventable health issues sideline millions of talented professionals? The answer is clear: investing in women's health research isn't just the right thing to do – it's smart economics. This Black Friday, we're choosing to invest in progress. By redirecting 20% of our sales to Wellbeing of Women's research initiatives, we're not just funding studies – we're investing in our collective future. Their work has already: • Led to the use of ultrasound scanning in pregnancy • Discovered the link between HPV and cervical cancer • Transformed understanding of heavy and painful periods By redirecting 20% of our sales from November 25 to December 4, we're not offering discounts – we're offering progress. Because when we invest in women's health research, everyone benefits. #InvestInWomensHealth #ResearchMatters #BreakingTheBias

Bringing a new Daye in gynae health ☀️
About us
Daye is a female-founded gynae health start-up on a mission to close the gender health gap for good. We started out with the invention of the world’s first pain-relieving tampon, designed to support the 90% of women who experience menstrual cramps. After helping over 75,000 women & AFAB individuals kick period pain to the curb, we launched our second generation tampon to facilitate the at-home detection of vaginal infections, STIs and HPV. Next, we want to develop solutions for under-served gynae health conditions like endometriosis, PCOS and menopause. Within the next five years, we will build an ecosystem where every woman can understand, monitor, and improve her health from her smartphone.

This Black Friday, Daye is shining a spotlight on a critical issue: the gender health gap. Gynaecological health research has been historically underfunded. For every £1 spent on research into women's health, £4 is spent on men's. This disparity has led to significant gaps in our understanding of conditions that primarily affect women and AFAB individuals. To address this imbalance, we're partnering with Wellbeing of Women , a pioneering organization that has been at the forefront of women's health research for 60 years. From November 25 to December 4, we're redirecting 20% of our sales to fund their crucial work. Some eye-opening facts: • It takes an average of 7.5 years to diagnose endometriosis, a condition affecting 1 in 10 women • Only 2.1% of publicly funded research is dedicated solely to reproductive health • Women are 50% more likely to be misdiagnosed following a heart attack By supporting this initiative, you're not just making a purchase – you're investing in a future where women's health is given the attention it deserves. #ClosingTheGenderHealthGap #WomensHealthResearch #EquityInHealthcare

60 years. £75 million invested. 600+ research projects. These numbers represent Wellbeing of Women's commitment to advancing women's health. This Black Friday, Daye is proud to support their vital work! The gender health gap is a complex issue, rooted in historical biases and systemic inequalities: • Women and AFAB folks weren't required to be included in clinical trials until 1993 • One of the largest endometriosis studies globally focused on assessing if patients with the disease are perceived to be more… attractive • Research on menopause has been described as "inadequate" by leading health organizations • Women still get diagnosed later than men across over 700 conditions. Wellbeing of Women's impact is immeasurable: • Their early work helped to link HPV and cervical cancer, resulting in preventative vaccination and screening programmes globally • They're currently funding research to develop a non-hormonal, non surgical treatment for endometriosis • Their studies have improved pregnancy outcomes for millions worldwide From November 25 to December 4, 20% of all Daye sales will directly fund this crucial research. Because progress in women's health is progress for all. #ScienceOverSavings #WomensHealthResearch #EquityInMedicine

Daye's Head of Global Health Strategy Michelle Gomes and Senior Design Engineer Elena Provaggi, PhD were thrilled to be at #IPVC2024 in Edinburgh last week, where global experts gathered to discuss groundbreaking advances in HPV research and cervical cancer prevention. 🔬 Fascinating developments in HPV self-sampling are showing promising results, with recent studies demonstrating that home-based testing could increase screening rates by over 3-fold in underserved populations. DNA methylation testing is emerging as a powerful triage tool, with markers like ASCL1 and LHX8 showing impressive sensitivity for detecting high-grade lesions. The evolution of HPV genotyping is also reshaping patient management, with HPV16/18 positivity now being incorporated into clinical algorithms for direct colposcopy referral. Exciting to see how extended genotyping is helping stratify patient risk more effectively. Michelle Gomes is dedicated to informing public health strategies that enhance cervical cancer screening. Her research aims to advocate the potential of self-sampling methods, like Daye's Diagnostic Tampon, to improve screening rates by offering an alternative to clinician-collected samples, particularly in countries like Tanzania with high prevalence of Cervical Cancer. Our UK HPV STAMP trial is soon to be published, watch this space! Elena Provaggi, PhD is currently working on groundbreaking innovations in HPV testing by developing even further the STAMP method! Her work combines the functions of a vaginal speculum and swab into a compact, tampon-applicator design. With optimized dimensions, it precisely guides the tampon for optimal proximity to the cervix. This unique tampon design allows for simultaneous entry into the cervical canal and effective sample collection from both the endocervix and ectocervix, making it easier than ever to prioritize your health. We’re committed to empowering you with tools that support your well-being in a comfortable and innovative way! #CervicalCancer #HPVPrevention #WomensHealth #MedicalResearch #Innovation

Thank you CensHERship for this very important initiative! 🙌 We keep facing "community guidelines violations" for sharing basic medical information about periods, pelvic health, and gynecological conditions. But we won't back down - the stigma and censorship around menstrual and reproductive health has historically contributed to needless suffering and lack of proper care. While platforms continue treating women's bodies and health as "inappropriate content," we'll keep advocating for medically accurate, judgment-free health education. These taboos around menstrual health have no place in modern healthcare discussions.
censHERship is coming to Europe! The censHERship campaign wants to hear from start-ups who operate in Europe who have encountered censorship when sharing women's health content on social media. Plus, we also want to hear from MEN'S health start-ups so we can find out if censorship (i.e content restricted or removed) is also happening to men's health content. Our last research was featured in national media and led to meetings with two social media platforms. Please help us continue to push this issue forward and remove these barriers for all. We can do it with your help! Our new survey is below - thank you in advance for your participation. Please 'like', 'comment' or 'repost' to help spread the word too! https://lnkd.in/etP224Gk

Revolutionary Changes Coming to NHS Cancer Screening 🩺 The UK's National Health Service (NHS) is set to transform cancer screening through a major digital shift, improving access and encouraging more people to take part in vital cervical and breast cancer screening. 🌟 "Ping and Book" – Appointment Reminders via NHS App Starting next month, individuals will receive appointment reminders directly through the NHS App, making it easier than ever to schedule their breast and cervical cancer screenings. 🌟 In-App Booking – Seamless Screening Scheduling By 2026, millions of women will be able to book their screening appointments directly through the NHS App, streamlining the entire process for greater convenience. 🌟 £130M in Savings – Digital Transformation The NHS expects to save over £130 million in the next five years by digitising the screening process, cutting down on costly postal communications. These changes are designed to increase screening uptake, ultimately supporting the NHS’s goal of eliminating cervical cancer by 2040. Early detection is critical, and this new, seamless digital approach is a game-changer for women's health. Next Month: Breast screening invitations will be sent directly through the NHS App. Spring 2025: Cervical screening invitations will follow. By Early 2026: Women will be able to book their appointments directly via the NHS App. Women will first receive an in-app notification to remind them to book, followed by an email or text if they don’t respond. A letter will be sent as a final reminder if there’s still no action. Right now, NHS cancer screening programs send over 25 million invitations, reminders, and results letters by post every year, costing £14.7 million annually. This digital shift aims to make the process more efficient and cost-effective. We’re excited to see how this innovation will empower women to prioritise their health and make cancer screening easier and more accessible than ever before.🙌 #NHSDigital #CancerScreening #GynaeHealth
