Welcome to a new chapter for Zero Waste Scotland. Our new Corporate Plan is a collective call to #RewireTheEconomy to circularity. Our Chief Executive Iain Gulland visited Adam Smith's Panmure House in Edinburgh, the home of Scotland’s foremost economist Adam Smith, to reflect on why we must take bold action in order to tackle the climate crisis 📽️. Rewiring the economy - for people, planet and prosperity.
About us
Rewiring the economy ⚡ We know the biggest cause of climate change is overconsumption – where society puts too much pressure on earth’s finite resources through our “take, make, waste” economic model. Zero Waste Scotland works with government, business, and communities to rewire the economy from our current model to one where we make the most of the materials we have. This is known as a circular economy and it’s the right choice if we want to create a more equal and just society for all. We’re Scotland’s circular economy public body. Since 2014, our work has helped more people understand that the answer to the climate emergency is to consume less. Find out more in our 2024-2030 corporate plan: https://zws.scot/CorporatePlan

Challenge yourself to a green resolution in 2025 💪 The easiest way to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill is to reduce how much we consume in the first place. Doing a 'no buy challenge' and only spending on the essentials for a week, month or even the year if you're feeling ambitious is a great way to challenge your habits and save a bit of money in the process.

Not all wrapping paper belongs in your recycling bin. Here's how to check: scrunch your paper - if it stays scrunched, it’s good to recycle! Avoid recycling glittery or metallic paper, plastic ribbons and anything with a shiny coating. This type of wrapping paper will need to go in your general waste bin.
