In 2022, Jayne was seven months pregnant with Betty when she went for a routine check-up... Her husband followed her to the hospital, where they received unexpected news—the baby was in distress, and delivery would need to happen within 10 minutes. The family knew their baby would have Down Syndrome, but the premature delivery brought with it a series of complications they weren’t prepared for. Zoe’s Place Update on the Children’s Hospice Grant Our Executive Trustee at Zoe’s Place has responded to Wes Streeting’s recent announcement on BBC Radio 4 that the Children’s Hospice Grant will continue: “It is fantastic to hear confirmation that the grant will continue. We are grateful to Wes Streeting for recognising the importance of the grant in supporting the essential care we provide. The Children’s Hospice Grant, worth £25 million annually, supports all children’s hospices in England, including Zoe’s Place, in delivering specialist care for children with life-limiting conditions. However, the majority of our funding still relies on donations and fundraising in the local communities. We look forward to clarity on how the grant will be distributed and would welcome discussions on ensuring the grant is inflation-linked in the future, to help meet the rising costs of care."
