It was great to attend the TechBio Innovators Meetup yesterday at The LAB Cocktail Bar & Kitchen, concluding a successful year of events bringing together the #TechBio community. To get us all into the festive spirit, the Zyme team tried our hands at Christmas wreath making yesterday afternoon, guided by the wonderful Gin House Flowers 💐 A few of us even discovered some hidden talents! Afterwards we enjoyed an evening of food and drinks at The Boot, taking some time to reflect on all of our hard work over the past year, and everything we and our clients have achieved 🥂 We had a fantastic evening and feeling fortunate to be going into 2025 as part of such a lovely team.

Today Newcells Biotech Ltd announced it has raised additional funding from existing investors Mercia Ventures, Northstar Ventures and North East Finance. Funding will support ongoing expansion and technological innovation for targeted solutions to accelerate drug discovery and clinical translation, and reduce reliance on animal testing. Google Deepmind's Nobel Prize-winning structural modelling tool, AlphaFold3, is now open access. The latest iteration of the AI-based software, AlphaFold3 enables users to predict protein structure. Uniquely, the software is also capable of modelling proteins alongside other molecules, making it an extremely useful tool for early-stage drug discovery screening.
