Total Football Analysis
Time for the #TFAArchives! Each day, Fintan O'Reilly gets deep into the 10,000+ articles we've written on TFA over the years and pulls out a few that might be of interest based on current events and news and sometimes, Chris Beaumont remembers to post them. Everton defeated Liverpool 2-0 to further dent their Merseyside rivals’ title hopes. The Toffees’ second goal came directly from a floated cross at a corner, something we warned about in relation to Sean Dyche’s side just earlier this week: https://lnkd.in/e5ABbasC Meanwhile, Arne Slot is the latest coach to be heavily linked with the soon-to-be vacant Liverpool manager’s job. Our piece shows how he translated his possession principles to Feyenoord faster than expected: https://lnkd.in/ex4ycPQg Xavi Hernández has reportedly changed his mind and opted to stay on as Barcelona boss beyond this season. We have a piece which explains how he brought some excitement to the Catalan giants’ football in 2021/22: https://lnkd.in/eeyXmUgA According to Porto president Pinto da Costa, Sergio Conceição will stay at Estádio do Dragão should he win re-election this month. Our head coach analysis piece explains why this might be a big incentive for Porto fans to re-elect Da Costa: https://lnkd.in/eXNsmA65 And that is officially it for today - we will be back in the morning with the latest analysis. #football #analysis #scouting #tactics #soccer #tactical #recruitment #data #analytics #viz

Everton Keen A Move For Championship Top Scorer Sammie Szmodics https://ift.tt/Vj95WLS Everton are the latest team to join the race to sign Blackburn Rovers attacker, Sammie Szmodics, according to Football Transfers. With the summer transfer window nearing ever closer, the Szmodics transfer news is set to be one of the biggest stories throughout. The Blackburn Rovers striker has scored a remarkable 25 goals this season in 45 games. He’s five goals clear of Adam Armstrong in second and is set to be named the top scorer in the league after their final game on Saturday. All this while being part of a Blackburn Rovers team that could still be relegated if they fail to win their final game and results don’t go their way. Szmodics transfer news – Why does Everton want him? Everton have secured their spot in the Premier League next season and will be keen to put the last few years well behind them. One thing that’ll help with that is signing someone who can score goals to keep them well away from the relegation battle. Szmodics has been in fine form this season. He has 31 goals in all competitions and, as mentioned before, is set to be the Championship’s top scorer in a team that has struggled. Everton are also looking at Szmodics because of the asking price set by Blackburn. On his Patreon, Alan Nixon reported the club only wants between £15-20million for Szmodics. This is attractive to Everton given their restricted budget ahead of the summer window. Although Nixon’s Szmodics transfer news did also say Sheffield United, Luton Town, and Brentford are keen on signing him. This could drive the price up if several teams are willing to battle for him. Is Szmodics the answer for Everton? Szmodics has had the best season of his career to date, but does this one season mean he’s ready for the Premier League? Before this season, Szmodics’ best goal tally in the league came in 2020/21 playing for Peterborough in League One. He managed 15 goals in 42 league games, while also grabbing eight assists. While these numbers are impressive given the fact he plays predominantly in attacking midfield, he has only got over 20 goal involvements in the league three times. These statistics don’t make him stand out as an obvious saviour for Everton. Is taking a risk on a player for £15-20million based on one season a sensible option for them? It’s not a lot of money for a player these days, but they’ll be keen to see a return from a player, no matter how much they spend. The transfer fee and wages could be put towards a proven Premier League player, which should reduce the risk — although nothing is guaranteed.
The post Everton Keen A Move For Championship Top Scorer Sammie Szmodics first appeared on The Deck.
Josh Stedman Read More At Look Sports Media

Non-Turf Match Pitches 👷🏼♂️ We have recently installed several match pitches over the last few weeks, Sherborne CC, Ynystawe CC and Raynes Park Sports Ground to name a few! Here are 5️⃣ reasons a Durant Cricket match pitch install could appeal to your Club: 1️⃣ Requires significantly less maintenance: this durable surface eliminates the need for regular mowing, flattening, or repainting, much like a standard wicket. This saves time and may be a more cost-effective alternative 💰 2️⃣ Minimal dependence on weather: even in bad weather, a non-turf match pitch has a much more effective drainage system thanks to the porous aggregate base installed beneath our shock pad and non-turf surface 🌧️ 3️⃣ Consistent bounce: if you desire a more consistent, level playing surface, our non-turf system could be the solution. The excavated area is dug to the required depth, then filled and compacted with aggregate, eliminating inconsistencies 🔑 4️⃣ Perfect for both juniors and seniors: tailored for all age groups, it’s the ideal platform for skill development and growth. Junior and senior crease lines can be painted on installation if requested🧍🏽 5️⃣ Project management from start to finish: we are involved in every step of the process, from in-house installations to on-site consultation and completion ↔️ Wish to receive a quote or make an enquiry? Manchester United Open To Sell All-But Three First Team Players This Summer https://ift.tt/XT8P10L Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers for the majority of their first-team squad barring young stars Kobbie Mainoo, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, according to a report from James Ducker of the Telegraph. This summer will mark the first summer transfer window for the INEOS group as owners of Manchester United, and there is set to be a major overhaul of the squad ahead of next season with the club restricted on spending due to the Premier League’s spending rules. The report suggests that the club will even consider offers for Marcus Rashford, but only if a substantial offer arrives and the forward expresses a desire to move away from Old Trafford. Manchester United to build around youth Having been renowned in the past for their lavish spending on world-class talent, Manchester United look set to take a new approach under the ownership of the INEOS group, targeting younger talent and nurturing them. When asked in March about the prospect of signing Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain, INEOS group founder Sir Jim Ratcliffe responded (via The Metro): “What I would rather do, I would rather find the next Mbappe, rather than spend a fortune to just try and buy success. “It’s not that clever, is it? Buying Mbappe. In a way. Anyone could figure that one out. But what is much more challenging is to find the next Mbappe or the next [Jude] Bellingham or the next Roy Keane.” United now look set to build their team around their promising youngsters. Academy graduates Mainoo and Garnacho have established themselves as regular starters for the club this season, whilst Hojlund has finally settled in and shown glimpses of his prowess in front of goal following his arrival at Old Trafford in the summer. Changes brewing after a disappointing season Despite finding themselves in an FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, it’s been a disappointing season for Manchester United on the whole. They currently sit in sixth place in the Premier League table and have failed to qualify for the Champions League next season, with the resulting decrease in revenue coming as a blow to INEOS’ plans for a squad overhaul in the summer. The club’s performances have also cast doubt over the future of manager Erik ten Hag, with a report from Sky Sports earlier this week claiming that the club have already held initial talks with Thomas Tuchel over becoming the new manager. Things could look very different for Manchester United next season both on the pitch and in the dugout. Is Marcus Rashford’s time at Old Trafford up? Whilst rumours surrounding Rashford’s future at United continue to circulate, the report from the Telegraph states that the club’s preference is to keep the forward and help bring him back to his best form. The 26-year-old has scored just eight goals in all competitions for United this season, with many England fans ...

Did you know 88% of core memories are created in August and September? That's not a real statistic, but it definitely FEELS accurate. Think back on your sporting career, regardless of the level you played at, and more likely than not you'll be thinking of those moments of agony and ecstasy we go through in the winter sporting finals. Me? I think about my footy club's 5+ losing grand finals. REALLY COOL! 🙃 But there are plenty more happy memories to drown those ones out. Last weekend we kicked off grand final season at Streamer with six deciders in the Essendon District Football League, another two in the Associated & Catholic Colleges of WA's netball programs and Perth RedStar Football Club clinching a third straight NPL Women's Premiership 🏆 This week there's another five grand finals out of AFL Cairns and the ACC soccer programs come to a head as well, plus Olympic Kingsway Sports Club have a chance to take out the men's NPL. It's such a massive time of year and so rewarding to be able to contribute in some way to milestone moments in so many people's lives. It's not too late to get your grand finals streamed either, flick me a DM and I can get the process started ✉ For brands, this is also a premium time to get onboard and support these programs, aligning with the memories that will last a lifetime and an audience who are super engaged and invested. WELCOME TO CORE MEMORY SZN!!! 💥 #sportsbroadcast #sportsstreaming #sportsmarketing #localsport #communitysport #sportsbusiness

This is an iconic deal in the landscape of English cricket and possibly world cricket. GMR Group and Hampshire County Cricket Club and its assets, currently owned by Rod Bransgrove, have agreed to an aquistion! Rod has been such a huge contributor to the game in the UK. I personally think this deal will be the catalyst to opening the gates to further Indian investment into English cricket (not new news) which points towards a bigger holistic future of players being centrally contracted by franchises (not countries). There will be mixed views on this deal and the the future of state of world cricket. https://lnkd.in/gFKvGPsN
