🇸🇬 Every year, the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit brings together agri-food leaders to celebrate innovation and drive resilience in Asia’s agri-food systems. This year, the Grow Asia delegation was led by our Head of Partnerships Amy Melissa Chua, who showcased the work of the Grow Asia network by hosting a lively discussion on the empowerment of women farmers and participated in a #ClimateFinance roundtable with Olam Agri. Speaking on 'Building Robust Ecosystems', Amy highlighted the indispensable role of Public-Private Partnerships in driving rural growth and fostering sustainable value chains. The discussion, moderated by Chisa Ogura of Meros Consulting, brought together industry leaders including Dawn Chan, Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP), Aravindan Srinivasan, AVPN, Binu Cherian, HarvestPlus, and Shusaku Ogawa, Development Bank of Japan Inc. Key takeaways: 1️⃣ Blended finance as a catalyst for collaboration: Effective partnerships are key to scaling sustainable agri-food solutions, with blended finance playing a pivotal role in mobilizing stakeholders and resources. 2️⃣ Inclusive value chains drive impact: Building value chains that include offtake partners and ensure equitable benefits is essential for creating scalable and financeable initiatives. 3️⃣ Policy influence through regional learning: Leveraging insights from successful initiatives across regions can help shape policies that amplify impact and foster sustainable growth. We are grateful to the panelists, moderator, and organizers for facilitating this important dialogue and look forward to continuing these critical conversations! #SIAW24 | #APACAgrifood

Developing climate smart agriculture solutions is key to mitigating the impact of climate change, especially here in Asia, where over half the world’s food is produced. 🌏 Speaking during the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit at a panel titled “Accelerating innovation: Accessing scale-up finance opportunities for agri-food tech,” Marisa Rebelo, SVP Innovation & Impact, shed light on the sustainable transition in agriculture. Here are some highlights ⬇️ 🌱 Empowering smallholder farmers with #RegenerativeAgriculture practices, Yara Africa & Asia is supporting Nature-Positive food production without impacting yield and quality. 📈 Co-creating solutions through an open innovation platform with partners along the value chain brings expertise together and maximises the impact. 📱Uplifting communities through knowledge, technology, and increased connectivity will be crucial to scaling agri-food innovations. We look forward to leading a food system transformation in collaboration with private and public partners through innovation platforms like #ThryveInnovationCoLab. 🤝

⚡🔋 How can technology be harnessed for climate-smart agriculture? 📆 This November our team attended the Singapore International Agri-Food Week (SIAW) followed by the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit, where Simone Barg, SVP of Asia-Pacific took part in a panel discussion on Precision Agriculture and what role cutting-edge technology plays for climate-smart agriculture. 🎤 During the panel discussion, she shared that there is no one-size-fits-all approach across the region. The landscape of digital solutions is diverse, from drones, smart machinery, soil health monitoring to AI-driven farming technology and in order to succeed it requires a collaborative effort across the entire value chain. 💚 A big thanks to all the guests, panel participants and team who joined and took part in the discussion! #BASFInAg #ForTheLoveOfFarming #PrecisionAg #AgroEvents

We've had the privilege of contributing to critical discussions on the future of sustainable and regenerative agriculture at #SIAW2024 this week. Our leaders, Laurence T.P. Jassogne, Head of Nature and Climate Solutions, and Shailendra Mishra, Global Head of Sustainability, Food and Feed Businesses, shared powerful insights into how we can collectively address the challenges and opportunities in agriculture today. 🔹 Laurence spoke at the opening plenary, highlighting the urgency of addressing climate shocks and the need for tailored support systems for farmers. Through real-world examples from Olam Agri, she showcased how sustainable practices such as water conservation and pesticide reduction are equipping farmers to adapt and thrive despite changing environmental conditions. 🔹 Shailendra delved into the transformative potential of regenerative agriculture, focusing on its role in enhancing biodiversity and sequestering carbon. He emphasised the importance of context-specific, science-based solutions and introduced the 4P model—Public, Private, and Philanthropic Partnerships—as a catalyst for sustainable growth, particularly in the Global South. Thank you to everyone who joined us and engaged in these vital conversations about the future of food systems and climate resilience. Two inspiring Norwegian women, each driving positive change in their own unique way, crossed our paths this week! On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of hosting Kristin Harila for dinner during her visit to Singapore. She was a speaker at the Morgan Stanley Asia Pacific Summit 2024. Kristin, along with Tenjen Lama Sherpa, holds the world record for summiting the world’s 14 highest peaks in just 92 days. From her regular job in Tromsø, she recognized the gender inequality in mountaineering and set out "to prove to the world that a good team can do anything, no matter the gender or origin". During our conversation, she shared insights on her ongoing Tenjen-Harila Cleanup Project, which aims to make mountain tourism more sustainable while improving the lives of the communities that call these peaks home. You can read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/gzhCFi7Z. ⛰️ On Friday, we wrapped up the week with a visit from Gunhild Anker Stordalen at our offices. Gunhild is the founder and executive chair of EAT, a non-profit dedicated to transforming the food production industry to ensure sustainable and nutritious food for all. She was in Singapore for the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit, where she participated in a fireside chat on the topic: "Can we feed a future population of 10 billion a healthy diet within planetary boundaries?". 🍃 Both are changemakers in their respective fields, Kristin in mountaineering and Gunhild in the food industry. Their passion and drive are truly inspiring🌍
