What’s the connection between data and content creation? Meet Jerrard Lawrence, the data analyst in the team who helps us make data-based decisions to our storytelling, and who has also shared some of his favourite films in celebration of #GlobalMovieDay today! 💼 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝘁? I’m a Data Analyst for BBC StoryWorks Programme Partnerships; I provide detailed analysis on how users are interacting with our content, whilst also developing new data processes for the whole team to help inform business decisions. Coming from a technical background, I've always had a curiosity about the many different stories we can tell from data. That and my love for film and TV is what brought me to BBC Studios! 💻 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗕𝗖 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀? Everyone is great at what they do, and all have a story to tell which makes for interesting conversations! It's really easy to just talk to people and find out what they're up to, which really helps to build a strong sense of community. 🎬 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗕𝗖 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀? I have a couple, I think Beyond the Code is a really important watch for today's climate given we're all starting to use AI a lot more in our personal lives, but Game On was interesting to see how much of an impact sport can have on people. 🎭 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺𝘀? I love how a good film can almost transport you into a different world and evoke emotions from you that you might not have been expecting…that feeling sometimes when a movie becomes your personality for a while. ❓𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗮𝘃𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗲? I really liked E.T the Extra-Terrestrial as a kid, but this year I’ve loved Babygirl.

“I’m made most aware of the greatness of nature and the smallness of humans, the smallness of myself… I want people to actually come here, to see the scenery once, and feel it with their own skin.” Oyster fisherman Abe Koya lives in Oku-Matsushima, considered to have one of Japan's most scenic views. He says the mineral-rich waters were made for plump, juicy oysters. The setting of this town, he feels, is a reminder of nature’s persistent prowess. Witness the breathtaking bounties of this 7,000 year-old village and meet its welcoming community, documented in part by photographer Gui Martinez on stunning reversal film. For villager or visitor, Oku-Matsushima is where all roads lead home. Learn more here: https://t.ly/hANgZ
