🌟 Veteran Career Transition Accelerator Programme Update 🌟   In partnership with Hull 4 Heroes and The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust   Our participants have officially embarked on the second phase of the programme, focusing on building foundational skills to enhance employability and boost confidence as they transition into civilian careers! 💼   The first session was led by Mike McKue, Programme Lead at the University’s School of Criminology, Sociology, and Policing, and what a fantastic session it was! Here's a glimpse of the key takeaways:   🔹 Playing to individual strengths – Recognising and building on personal strengths to support learning and growth. 🔹 Drawing on experience – Using past military experiences to improve cognitive abilities and adapt to new educational challenges. 🔹 Muscle memory in learning – Exploring how this can be applied beyond physical tasks to academic and professional settings. 🔹 Transferable skills – Identifying skills gained in the military and aligning them with civilian opportunities. 🔹 Power of observation – Participating in a selective attention test and discussing learning theories, including how we focus and reason through scenarios.   The session concluded with an engaging visit to the University's Crime Scene Room, where participants applied observational skills and learning theories in a practical setting, followed by group discussions to share perspectives. 🕵️♂️   This marks a strong start to the next chapter of their journey. The panel were blown away by the pitching and the connections they made in the room today will guarantee growth. Last month, she joined us as the keynote speaker at our Future of Business Conference and hosted an inspiring session with aspiring female entrepreneurs from our master’s program, offering practical advice and lessons from her journey.
