The Lightweight Manufacturing Centre is the first phase of the Scottish Government’s NMIS programme and is hosted and operated by the University of Strathclyde. The new centre focuses on working with and developing novel lightweight solutions to help manufacturing businesses face and overcome the challenges of the modern-day world. Through working with the Lightweight Manufacturing Centre companies can access world-class expertise and technologies. The team is highly experienced in a breadth of processes and materials and recognises that flexibility is key.

My summer internship at NMIS has come to an end, and it was a very fun and interesting experience. During my time there, I focused on creating VR simulations of the cobots and connecting them to the actual cobots, which was particularly exciting. I'm pleased to announce that I will continue working on my project at NMIS part-time once I return to university. I would like to say a big thank you to Manufacturing Skills Academy at NMIS Lightweight Manufacturing Centre at NMIS Niklas Meyn Dr. Alastair Poole Oleksiy Reshetov and to everyone else I met at NMIS for their support throughout the internship.
