Let's champion authentic disability representation on TV. People with disabilities make up a quarter of the UK population but are rarely seen on screen (only 8.3%!) according to a report published by the Creative Diversity Network. This lack of representation can perpetuate stereotypes and hinder social progress. The good news is Children's television is leading the way with 11.9% representation, but there's still a long way to go for all genres. Want to be part of the change? Here are some casting calls currently seeking applicants from under-represented communities, including people with disabilities: The Apprentice (BBC): www.bbc.co.uk/apprentice Channel 4: www.geniuscasting.co.uk The Traitors (BBC): https://lnkd.in/ejE_Pq4q Let's create a more inclusive media landscape! #DisabilityInclusion #RepresentationMatters Image description: 8-image carousel. Light blue background, dark blue text. Statistics on UK media representation of disabled people. Key stats include: 8.3% on-screen contributions (2021), 1.1% increase over 5 years, 32% of UK adults saw no disability representation in 6 months, children's TV had highest representation (11.9%). Text explains importance of representation: challenges stereotypes, promotes understanding, impacts self-perception, drives social change.

Things we love to see! Congratulations to Victoria Jenkins for this fantastic collection and for being the driving force in making high street fashion accessible for all. Have you seen the collection yet? #AdaptiveFashion #Accessibility #AccessiblePrimark
At Primark, we believe fashion should be for everybody and every body. Last year, we made a commitment to bring more adaptive fashion to the high street and this afternoon we were proud to unveil our new collection for men and women for the first time with an exclusive preview event, ahead of it hitting stores next Tuesday 28th January. Built on the timeless styles our customers love, it includes everything from trench coats and tees to jumpers and jeans, all with features designed around the needs of disabled people. The collection has been created in partnership with award-winning adaptive fashion designer and disability advocate Victoria Jenkins, who brings her expertise and lived experience with disability to every design. It’s an important step in making sure more people can find clothes that help them look and feel their best without the high price tag that often comes with more specialist items or having to invest in expensive alterations. Adaptive features across the range include magnetic zippers and snap fastenings, waist loops that help to pull up trousers and hidden openings for tube, stoma or catheter access. There is also a range of options for people who are seated, such as wheelchair users. We’ve created bespoke rail fixtures for our stores to make finding the products our customers need in the range more accessible. The collection builds on the success of our first adaptive lingerie range, launched in January 2024, which was unveiled alongside plans to improve accessibility for our customers and colleagues. To drive this forward, we’ve partnered with a number of organisations and consultants including the Business Disability Forum, Dr Shani Dhanda and Purple Tuesday, who supported in auditing our recruitment processes to make targeted improvements. In collaboration with AccessAble, we now offer Detailed Access Guides for all Primark stores in the UK and Republic of Ireland to help our customers plan their visits with confidence, available on our store locator pages. We know there’s more work to do, and we’re committed to going further and faster to make Primark more accessible for everyone. Our latest adaptive collection will be available in 96 stores across 10 countries from Tuesday, 28th January. Keep an eye on our channels for more! #AccessiblePrimark #AdaptiveFashion
