We are delighted to see our new Intelligent Bedside Cabinet featured on the BBC today. NHS Grampian has been testing the new intelligent bedside cabinets. ‘A mother whose son has been in hospital for more than a year has praised trials of a new technology which dispenses medication and has helped her "feel like a mum again". The so-called bedside intelligent cabinet securely stores routine medicines and alerts patients or guardians when it is time to take them. NHS Grampian is describing the trial at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital (RACH) as a world first.’ You can see the article here https://lnkd.in/eCW7nW5A Get in touch at info@kinetic-id.com or +44 (0)1905 971034 to learn more about this ground breaking intelligent bedside cabinet. www.kinetic-id.com

NHS Grampian trials world-first tech for patients A local mum who has been helping NHS Grampian to trial some world-first new tech provided by IT solutions firm Kinetic-ID says it “helps me to be mum again.” The medical ward at Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital has provided the first testing site in the UK for a new ‘Bedside Intelligent Cabinet’ which stores routine medicines securely and alerts patients (or guardians) when it’s time to take their medication. NHS Grampian’s Innovation Hub was approached to see if they could support the trial at the end of last year and the request tied in perfectly with plans to help facilitate the self-administration of medicines. Exciting news! Project CAELUS just completed another live flight trial, delivering NHS laboratory specimens by drone across the Firth of Clyde for the first time ever! 🌍✈️ Our trial in conjunction with NHS Scotland, AGS Airports and 15 other partners showed drones could deliver essential medical supplies like blood and diagnostic samples to rural and remote communities in 30 minutes. This is a major step towards creating a national drone network that can transport critical healthcare materials across Scotland. Kudos to all involved in making this achievement possible! 🙌 Read more here https://lnkd.in/evzWZY67 #HealthcareInnovation #DroneTechnology #FutureOfMedicine #ProjectCAELUS #HealthcareDelivery #Logistics #DroneDeliveries #ScotlandInnovation #dronesforgood

Executive Chair of InnoScot Health, Graham Watson, analyses what is following fast on the the heels of the most talked about technologies, as innovation is helping NHS Scotland to plug into better healthcare. "Artificial intelligence (AI) is evolving very fast and making headlines around the world – but look past its many immediate healthcare benefits and there is a whole new world of incredibly exciting innovation following quickly on its heels. "Arguably foremost amongst that is robotics. Surgical robots in particular have been championed by NHS Scotland for a few years, and the opportunity to supplement expert surgeons in very precise procedures is now bearing fruit, producing less invasive procedures and quicker recovery times. "NHS Fife has been a leader in that regard, announcing earlier this year that it had reached a significant milestone of more than 500 patients being treated using pioneering robotic-assisted surgery. "Introduction of the technology has further enabled Fife patients with prostate cancer to receive surgery without having to travel further afield. "In fact, the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy was the first District General Hospital in Scotland to adopt robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) in 2021, with support from the Scottish Government of around £2.2m, and was proud to achieve the 500 patients milestone through colorectal, gynaecological and urological surgeries. "The DaVinci robotic system introduced in Fife two years ago has been used by laparoscopic surgeons who have been able to operate the console device from within the theatre, with consultant surgeons across a range of specialities now further trained in the system’s use. "Since its implementation, RAS has allowed procedures to be carried out with greater precision and ease, and with reduced post-operative pain – in turn, helping to shorten the average length of hospital stay – and leading to reduced likelihood of readmission through complications."
