The Risk.net article ‘Basel stops short on wrong-way risk’ examines the updated Basel Committee guidelines on counterparty credit risk management. While these updates address some lessons from the Archegos collapse, they leave significant gaps- particularly in tackling wrong-way risk within potential future exposure. By omitting mandatory inclusion of WWR, the guidelines leave risk managers questioning whether these changes are sufficient to prevent another $10 billion loss. At Risk Learning we recognise the critical importance of WWR and feature a dedicated session on this topic in our Counterparty Risk and SA-CCR virtual course, running June 17-19. 📌Register and view details: https://lnkd.in/eMwCXC8G 📄Read the article: https://lnkd.in/ehjSaidD #wrongwayrisk #risklearning #riskmanagement #counterpartycreditrisk #saccr #CCR #risktraining

Former UK banking regulator, Risk and Compliance professional. Operational Risk, Operational Resilience, TPRM and Regulatory Affairs Consultant and Trainer. Former Chairman IOR England & Wales

2025 is the year of operational resilience and TPRM! In this course, delivered with Andrew Sheen, we will cover all the fundamentals you need to know to meet regulatory expectations with a focus on the middle east region. We focus on the BCBS principles, which are driving the approach of most domestic regulators including in the region, and use practical examples from the UK on how to operationalise the BCBS principles (e.g., for mapping, testing, and embedding). Operational resilience is the outcome of effective ORM, so it's vital to use the tools of ORM to deliver the expected outcomes. TPRM is the elephant in the room on resilience, and we will cover how to identify risks and vulnerabilities from the 3rd/ nth party ecosystem. Book your place today on practical and interactive course. Katelyn Zdunek
