🔥 Fire Safety: A Non-Negotiable Standard in Hospitality Recent industry news has highlighted the critical importance of fire safety in furniture. At Silentnight, this has always been front of mind for every product we make. Every mattress, bed and headboard we manufacture for contract and hospitality environments undergoes rigorous fire safety testing to BS7177 Source 5 (Medium Hazard) standards - the UK's comprehensive requirement for the sector. This specification measures the ignition resistance of mattresses, divans, and bed bases through the stringent Crib 5 test method, which subjects materials to a controlled fire source for up to 10 minutes. To pass, materials must show zero flame spread or smouldering. This isn't just about meeting standards - it's about exceeding them. Our testing regime is integrated into every step of our manufacturing process because we understand our responsibility to hotel operators who trust our products, staff who work in hospitality environments, and guests who deserve peace of mind during their stay. We believe that by maintaining the highest fire safety standards and sharing best practices, our industry can continue to evolve and improve.
